Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician provides support to the Production Studio and adjoining 465 bed extended-stay employee hotel. Responsible for keeping accurate track of all maintenance logs for all equipment. Manages outside suppliers who are contracted to perform more complicated maintenance when needed.

Career Snapshot:

• Performs maintenance work including but not limited to carpentry, painting, drywall repair, and minor electrical, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance
• Responsible for managing and performing the reconfigurations of workstations, office and conference rooms
• Assist staff in preparing spaces for special events, i.e. corporate meetings, performances and FIU student events
• Directly responsible for addressing all guest requests and complaints associated with the maintenance of the employee hotel and determines the correct approach needed to resolve the issue
• Manage all lighting, i.e. replace bulbs and ballasts
• Assist in the development of annual maintenance plan and associated budgets
• Assist department maintenance team with projects at any South Florida office.

Requirements:

• High School graduate
• Minimum five years experience in field and/ or activities
• Ability to take direction from management and field supervisor
• Must be able to communicate with customers, management and office personnel and fellow employees
• Ability to call, coordinate and meet with service technicians on service calls or planned work
• Ability to recognize and react to facility emergencies
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry
• Working knowledge of power and hand tools
• Knowledge of work station construction and componentry
• Knowledge of mechanical lift to maintain high reach light fixtures
• Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule (nights /weekends), 5 days a week. Must be available to respond to emergencies (24 X 7). Work week could be any five consecutive days
• Must be in good physical condition and able to work in extreme weather conditions
