Position Summary:

This position has ultimate responsibility for the generation of Celebrity Cruises Future Cruise Sales revenue. This role is also responsible for the overall and largely remote leadership and direction for a team of over 50 sales managers and associates worldwide. The Director is required to develop, implement and coordinate strategies, policies and operational and marketing programs to ensure and improve the fleet's marketability, revenue generation capability, and Secured Guest Index scores.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead team of global sales managers and associates to maximize revenue potential through creation of training programs, sales techniques, evaluation processes, metrics, and revenue flow analysis.
  • Strategic development and implementation of marketing programs for print, television, and social campaigns and onboard sales events in order to maximize % of guests who book their next cruise onboard.
  • Has direct leadership responsibility for all areas of recruiting, payroll, fleet salary and compensation, scheduling, performance evaluations, sales initiatives, motivation, contests, reporting, KPI generation, SQM policy and procedures, and continued development of employees.
  • Establishes ship specific goals based on the overall CEL growth targets. Conveys all target goals with the shipboard executive committee and shore side senior management teams.
  • Required to develop, implement, analyze, and maintain standing incentive programs for the fleet personnel to attain revenue targets.
  • Implements tactical programs & incentives as necessary according to plan.
  • Partners with executive and senior management shore side to achieve key initiatives together with Hotel Operations, Food and Beverage, Marketing, Entertainment, Human Resources, Revenue, Deployment, and Marine Operations, Onboard Revenue.
  • Partners and directs the ship board senior leadership, liaising with Hotel Directors, Onboard Marketing Managers, Cruise Directors and the Executive Steering Committee to drive the operational and marketing needs in supporting the program.
  • Liaises with Field Sales, Consumer Outreach, Agency executives and partners to insure global exposure of the onboard program, generating traffic, conversion of Open Passages, and continued revenue generation.
  • Represents the department with international offices internally and externally to coordinate, drive and direct the strategic vision of the onboard program.
  • Develops Capital Appropriations Request (CAR) proposals, plans, bids, financial reviews, project scope, and management execution in conjunction with New Build and Refurbishment Teams, internal and external contractors, IT processes to maximize efficient and productive use of the Cruise Sales areas fleet wide.
  • Develops and maintains annual operational budgets. Develops and managers sales incentive programs and budgets. Co-supports management of Hotel Operations CAM budgets to minimize turnover and travel costs associated with CAM.
  • Performs other duties as required

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Maintains monthly expenses within global operational budget
  • Approves departmental invoices and expenditures
  • Approves crew salary and compensation structures / limits.
  • Acts as CAR Manager for fleet redevelopment and refurbishment projects, and is lead presenter at Capital Committee meetings to gain approval of projects from RCCL VPs of Finance
  • Shared responsibility of all CAM related expenses in supporting and maintaining the 50 active crewmembers across the fleet.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years previous industry sales and management experience
  • 5 years managerial experience required (must have experience managing a team of sales or revenue generating teams).
  • 3 years of shipboard experience preferred
  • 3 years of outside sales experience
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent education required

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have the natural ability to inspire and motivate a largely remote sales team around the world. Must be a leader that others want to follow and learn from.
  • Must have demonstrated tenacity and the ability to promote a strong unified team environment from direct reports.
  • Must have demonstrated tenacity and the ability to promote a collaborative environment from direct reports.
  • Must be able to build relationships with decision-makers of all operational areas, as well as the team both onboard and shore side.
  • Must be knowledgeable in shipboard operations and procedures and services relative to competitors.
  • Must be creative, enthusiastic and always willing to go above and beyond what is expected to exceed customer expectations.
