Position Title: Personnel &Training Manager
Report to: Shipboard: Hotel Director
Accountability: Facilitate training programs and serve as shipboard human resources liaison officer.
Operational Duties
Essentials Functions:
- Manages the onboard training and development activities by facilitating professional development and leadership programs, with particular emphasis on job skills training programs for newly hired crew members.
- Measures and evaluates trainee’s performance to ensure alignment with job competencies.
- Coaches and guides trainees through a series of in-class training activities and an extensive on-the-job training program to ensure trainees successful attainment of College certification.
- Effectively communicates with Corporate Learning & Development Department and onboard management with regards to trainee’s knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Works collaboratively with key corporate personnel and subject matter experts to design, develop and implement learning & development programs.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the learning & development activities to continually ensure objectives are achieved and provides recommendations for improvement as required.
- Coordinates the online learning offerings and manages the venues. • Oversees the shipboard welcome process for new joiners.
Secondary Functions:
- Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with Heads of Departments and members of the ships company.
- Communicates operational issues to the Hotel Director and raises any crew issues to the onboard management team.
- Participates in crew welfare meetings to provide suggestions and recommendations that positively contribute to the enhancement of onboard morale.
- Provides support in regards to shipboard life, compassionate circumstances, job conditions, etc.
- Reports complaints of discrimination and harassment to Captain and Staff Captain.
- Assists with the development and distribution of career opportunities.
- Coordinates graduation ceremonies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Three years relevant experience, preferably in cruise industry
- Experience in the field of Adult Learning is desired
- Exemplary presentation and facilitation skills
- Capacity to serve as a role model to both existing and new members of the Seabourn team and ability to inspire others to follow the Seabourn values.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and easily approachable
- Ability to research and design training curriculum and materials
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Advanced verbal, non-verbal, written communication skills
- Experience editing, including advanced knowledge of English grammar
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Power Point to an intermediate level
Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship, in a 4/5* Hotel or in an Upscale Restaurant.
Language Requirements
Good knowledge of the English language is required.
