Opportunity for an experienced Photo Video Manager to join Australia’s most iconic cruise line – P&O Cruises

Throughout our 80+ year history P&O Cruises has remained Australia’s most loved cruise line. As testament to our success in the Australian/New Zealand market we will soon be expanding our fleet from 3 to 5 ships.

As a result of expansion we are currently recruiting a Photo Video Manager to join us onboard during late October. Our Photo Video Manager is responsible for ensuring our onboard photo video team (of 8-11) creates unique photo-video memories while achieving or exceeding financial targets.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • achieve Photo, Video and Retail gross planned targets and control expenses to stay within margin goals for each department
  • complete timely and accurate end-of-cruise reports with detailed and qualitative comments, communicating revenue issues or opportunities
  • Scheduling and assigning the daily work of all photographers and the Video Producer
  • in collaboration with the Assistant Photo Manager, ensure the photo video team is performing at their peak by providing training, coaching, completing appraisals and instigating corrective action as required
  • ensuring customer service targets are achieved, promptly developing effective action plans when scores fall below standard
  • respond promptly to resolve passenger requests and concerns, following up with passengers as appropriate and escalating to management as necessary 
  • thoroughly understand the P&O Cruises Australia product; collaborate with Operations Manager Photo Video and Administration and Revenue Director in executing product initiatives and marketing strategies
  • take accountability for correctly protecting issued equipment and company assets as directed in policies and procedures
  • Work in close cooperation with all other department managers aboard the cruise ship to coordinate events

Along with significant studio portrait and events photography experience:

  • strong management and leadership skills, with the proven ability to drive an increase in product quality and revenue generated
  • excellent command of the English language (both spoken and written)
  • operational management skills – budget, revenue and inventory management
  • strong technical knowledge of photography equipment and image processing and printing equipment (wet chemical printers)
  • energy, charisma, great relationship building and interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, a high customer focus and the ability to thrive in a team working environment

Contracts are for six months duration with two months leave in between assignments. The salary is competitive and equipment, accommodation, main meals and flights are supplied by the company.

Please note that employees of P&O Cruises are required to obtain a medical clearance, possess a current unrestricted passport (valid for at least a year) and be eligible to apply for an Australian Maritime Crew Visa (MCV) and Australian Visitor Visa.
