Operational duties

  • Responsible for the daily activities of the Asst. Housekeeper and Housekeeping Supervisor
  • Conduct daily pre-shift meeting with Asst. Housekeeper and Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • Prepare and revise work schedules and submit to Exec. Housekeeper for final approval.
  • Monitor on a daily basis, the work performance of the Assistant Housekeeper and Housekeeping Supervisor, enforce that all work performance meets VOC standard.
  • Prepare and submit performance appraisals for the Asst. Housekeeper and Housekeeping Supervisor to the Executive Housekeeper for review.
  • Consult, guide, and administrate disciplinary procedure when and if required. All performance evaluations and disciplinary issues are to be reviewed by the Executive Housekeeper prior being issued or administered.   
  • Carry daily random inspections of all Housekeeping areas and ensure VOC quality standards are met.
  • Monitor the recording of crew working time and overtime and ensure compliance with MLC. Submit final wage report to the Executive Housekeeper for review and approval.
  • Receive store and update inventory.
  • Handle and resolve housekeeping related Guest issues.
  • Daily communication with the Executive Housekeeper to update on operation and concerns.
  • Liaison between Exec Housekeeper and Asst. Housekeeper and Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • Provide development opportunities and shadowing for the Crew.
  • Assist in covering for shortages in the managerial team as required.
  • Place orders for expendables (e.g. shampoo, soap, etc.) and control adequate levels of all supplies. Submit final requisition to Executive Housekeeper for approval.
  • Maintain a correct and complete inventory of housekeeping chemicals and cleaning equipment and ensure they are in working order. Submit request for additional purchasing to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Participate in management inspections when required.
  • Organize, supervise and ensure proper handling of luggage.
  • Provide and coordinate follow-up on functionalities and technical issues related to guest stateroom areas, public areas, guest self-service laundry, crew areas and facilities.
  • Ensure inventory are carried out as per assign schedule.
  • Prepare, review and check all relevant reports, documents, logs, checklists, USPH and safety logs, and any other paperwork necessary to the operation of the department, and ensure their accuracy.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and be a good role model for subordinates.
  • Handle guest and Crew challenges in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace with emphasis on employee health and fire\chemical safety
  • Operate in line with all USPH, Environmental, Safety and Security Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Housekeeper.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum four years housekeeping management experience on ships of 300+ cabins
  • 5 Stars high end property experience a plus
  • Excellent English communication skills both spoken and written. Additional European language recommended
  • Hospitality, Hotel, or Business Management Degree preferred
  • Strong knowledge of housekeeping chemical and equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of sanitation process and procedures
  • Excellent Computer skills needed (Word, Excel, Fidelio, Outlook, and Espresso)
  • Strong knowledge of Human Resources procedures and their applications.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse Crew
  • Training skills
  • Great guest interaction

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
