Captain

The Captain is responsible for the nautical department, the nautical program and the maintenance on board of the ship. Basically, he is responsible for the whole ship, also for the safety of the passengers and crew. The Captain directly reports to the Nautical Manager and/or de Management and cooperates closely with the Hotel Manager on board.

TASKS

• Representing the company; always being correctly, conscientiously and showing competence
• Managing to the Nautical Department and helping them where needed
• Maintaining discipline and observing the internal regulations and / or individual employment agreement
• Proper handling of passengers and crew
• Assisting the Hotel Manager in the execution of his (her) duties if desired
• Encouraging a good working atmosphere on board
• Supervising the maintenance of the ship's engines
• Maintaining contacts with passengers, acting as host to them - especially during the various receptions and special dinners

REQUIREMENTS

• At least three or four years of river ship experience in a comparable position
• Inland experience on river cruise ships, especially on the Rhine
• Experience with rudder propellers and with Z Drives
• Seamen’s book
• Secondary School
• Two Rhine patents and two Danube patents
• Radar patent
• Preferably, a first aid certificate
• Excellent communication skills and problem solving skills
• Good German speaking skills (and preferably English)
• Friendly appearance and in good healthFlexible and enthusiastic
