Technical Stores Manager

Our client is a popular and quality Cruise Liner company who provide a variety of memorable cruises. They are currently looking for a Technical Stores Manager to join their successful team.

Summary of Role

The Technical Stores Manager is responsible for managing the full technical stores operation on board by maintaining the ships inventory system for all Technical and Deck Department stores whilst ensuring ships stock is held at the appropriate levels.

People Management/Coaching/Development

Manage and direct a small team or Storekeepers in their day to day dutiesIdentify staff training needs in relation to their job responsibilities and deliver appropriate training where necessary to ensure that correct procedures/processes are followed

Budget Management/Cost Control

Asset management through maintaining appropriate stock levelsInform relevant department of missing consignments or incorrect deliveries receivedArrange for return of defective items and incorrectly supplied items back to the supplierTake an active part in the management of the overall Technical budgets by assisting in forecasting and ensuring all relevant parties are aware of variance to budgets if they occurInform relevant departmental persons on budget status/issues on a weekly bases to facilitate good budget management/control

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential:

NVQ Level 2 in distribution Warehousing storage Operations or RSA Level I,II,III in Storekeeping or equivalentComputer literate – knowledge of e-mail and Microsoft packages

Desirable:

NVQ Level 4 Management (or equivalent)

Experience

Essential:

Experience of working in a similar or deputy roleExperience of managing technical stores in inventory stock and financial controlHands on experience and a working knowledge of Health and Safety and COSSH ProceduresProven ability to reduce stock holding by value and volumeExperience of budgetary monitoring and controlProven ability to plan and prioritise stores ordering and inventory management according to logistical and geographical constraints

Desirable:

Full understanding of AMOS system and procedures or equivalent inventory management/accounting system
