Deck Maintenance Officer / Trainer

We are looking for a Deck Maintenance Officer / trainer to join the on board team of a new build mega yacht for a temporary assignment (3 months approx.) starting around mid-October.

• The ideal candidate will have extensive experience on board modern luxury cruise ships/yachts.
• You would be mainly responsible for the upgrading training of all Deckhands skill in following areas
• Maintenance of the vessel's exterior to its optimum immaculate condition.
• Organize deck operations maintenance and works executions.
• Acquiring knowledge of all Equipment and maintenance products onboard.
• Develop, execute and carry out planned maintenance and repair projects.
• Identify maintenance trainings required for all Deckhands and reporting directly to the Department Head.
• Identify Hazards and inculcate Safety habits in workplace.
• You should have extensive hands on experience and knowledge of following:
• Proper washing of the vessel using right equipment/gears and industrial detergent/chemical as required
• Paint/Varnishing works finishings (Awl Grip) and its prior preparations.
• Teak decks/railings cleaning including stainless steel railings maintenance and possible minor repairs i.e. caulking, sanding, varnishing and polishing.
• Minor restoration of Fibreglass materials is an added advantage.
• Mooring and Mooring Deck Safety
• Use of harnesses and Safety Equipment for exterior safe working at heights.
• Proper usage of tools and applicable equipment to carry out above jobs.
• General knowledge of maintenance materials i.e. paints and additives, proper usage of chemicals and industrial products for the intended maintenance job applications. Ensuring that proper pre application preparations are being adhered to. i.e. cleaning, sanding, varnishing, caulking, polishing, finishing and general exterior maintenance.
• Formal training in one or more of above trades shall be a great advantage.

Candidates should hold a 2nd Officer licence
