Position Summary:

This position is responsible for development, implementation and management of programs and initiatives in support of the Environmental Stewardship Strategic Plan. This includes administration of The Ocean Fund, development of destination stewardship and environmental programs for RCL brands. Effective communication of these programs to Senior and Executive Management in electronic, personal and group settings is a key element of this position. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining cooperative partnerships with other business units, consultants, NGOs, community groups and other key stakeholders.

Career Snapshot: 

  • Manages the annual stewardship reporting process including liaising with consultants, editing website and production of the final publication, as well as being responsible for developing the sustainability program content.
  • Develops strategic data collection systems for sustainability programs and provides executive level analytical reports.
  • Administers The Ocean Fund charitable giving program, liaising with NGOs, preparing grants for submission to the Grants Committee and disbursing funds.
  • Destination Stewardship program development, implementation and maintenance.
  • Creates and implements corporate environmental communication tools (i.e. presentations, brochures and other types of collateral).
  • Develops content for Marine and Hotel Operations guest-facing environmental programs (i.e. Save the Waves, Oceans Ahead, etc.).
  • Development and administration of corporate sustainability initiatives (corporate policies, shoreside initiatives and multi-branded onboard initiatives, such as the sustainable seafood initiative and the Green Vehicle Parking program).
  • Manages consultant partner deliverables regarding environmental stewardship programs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or related field.
  • Four to six years related work experience.
  • Proficiency with internet search engines, email applications and Microsoft Office applications required (specifically; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Word press).
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

Preferences:

  • Masters Degree preferred in environmental management, sustainable tourism, marine affairs and policy or related field.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004, Global Reporting Index (GRI) and Carbon Disclosure Report (CDP).
  • Strong knowledge of internationally recognized environmental/sustainability reporting regimes.
  • Understanding of Adobe software (Adobe Professional, Photoshop).
