Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the design and proper execution of RCL's hedge accounting program in accordance with relevant accounting literature. A strong grasp of highly technical accounting is required along with an understanding of complex financial instruments.

Career Snapshot:

  • Research optimal hedge accounting strategies for the company's proposed risk management activities
  • Present recommended hedge accounting strategies to management
  • Apply advanced accounting concepts to author hedge accounting documentation which describes the company's hedge strategy and testing methodology in technical detail
  • Ensure departmental adherence to hedge accounting requirements in accordance with relevant accounting literature in:
  • Developing and implementing hedge accounting testing
  • Managing the reporting of derivatives activity for internal financial reporting and the company financial disclosures included in the company quarterly and annual filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Ensure departmental adherence to Sarbanes Oxley internal controls and to Royal Caribbean's Hedge Policy and Procedures
  • Supervise activities and review work product of senior accountant(s)

Requirements:

  • Certified Public Accoutant
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of eight years accounting experience
  • Technical accounting research experience
  • Significant experience in accounting and financial statement disclosure of derivative financial instruments and hedge accounting
  • Work experience with statistical analysis (i.e. regression analysis) and the interpretation of such
  • Experience in presenting complex concepts to a broad audience

Preferences:

  • Post Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Mix of public and private company accounting experience
