Position Summary:

The Air Planning Revenue Performance Department plays a key role in our efforts to perform as a Market Driven Organization in the complex Cruiseline industry. The Air Planning team is responsible for understanding the air industry and how it impacts our guest's ability to travel from their home city to their destination, understanding airline inventory and costs, trends, consolidations, and marketing opportunities. Each of our brands uses air differently in the sale of the cruise, to assist in maximizing cruise ticket revenue for the Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity, and Azamara brands. The Air Planning & Analysis team forecasts Air Revenue and Expense, and Other travel charges for our guests, provides senior management with analysis summarizing business conditions, and for responds to deployment questions, pricing request and provides information about airlift and the impact airlift has on selling cruises. The Senior Analyst also, among other responsibilities, conducts process improvement reviews for internal processes, such as developing estimates of air costs for future sailings, interprets current and future business performance to develop the annual Air Plan and forecasts, liaises with International markets in the preparation of their forecast and plan. In addition the Sr. Analyst plans, forecasts and analyses certain components of Other Income and Expenses, such as Cruise Care, and Cancellation Penalty Revenue and provides regular and ad-hoc analysis on booking trends and business conditions, which require developing and understanding complex financial modeling.  The Sr. Analyst also communicates financial information to numerous internal departments and external vendors, including airline partners and distribution channels

Career Snapshot:

  • Responsible for forecasting, developing, reporting on, and adjusting various aspects of Net Ticket revenue and Other Income and Expenses, including Air Revenue and Expense, and other ancillary revenues and expenses. The Senior Analyst is a key contributor in the development of various aspects of annual revenue Plan and periodic forecasts for Net Ticket Revenue, revenues of over $3 billion.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for Air industry as well as other revenue forecast topics.
  • Partners and works with Revenue Management Development and Systems team to develop ad-hoc statistical analyses on varied topics including business conditions, demand trends and pricing trends.
  • Responsible for communicating financial information to varied audiences, along with preparing analysis for use with external parties.
  • Maintains relationships with IT, Sales, Marketing, Accounting, Corporate Planning, International, Revenue Management and other areas in order to ensure financial data is effectively communicated and understood
  • Improve revenue tools to facilitate decision making, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Prepares analyses, schedules, and presentations in preparation for the quarterly earnings calls; analyses must be accurate and clearly presented in order to be used in external communications.
  • Assists with management of ancillary revenue products (CruiseCare and Cancellation penalty revenue), totaling about $100 million annually.
  • Continuously search for potential business improvements, revenue opportunities and efficiency gains
  • Provide ongoing support, coaching, and guidance to the team of analysts and specialists in all aspects of revenue management and financial analysis.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of revenue management and complex economic concepts
  • Experience in project management
  • Ability to develop and deliver high quality, clear and concise presentations and ability to organize, analyze, and interpret large volumes of data

Preferences:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year University required, with two or more years work experience in an analytical field. Masters of Business Administration (M.B.A.) or Master's degree (M. A.) preferred but is not required.
  • Familiarity with revenue management concepts and demonstrated aptitude for problem solving
  • Strong financial skills / ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data
  • Superior skills in Sabre, Amadeus or other Airline distribution system
  • Excel, PowerPoint, and Hyperion. Ability to logically structure complex quantitative analyses.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to business and technical audiences in both spoken and written formats.
  • Attention to detail required.
  • Willingness to accept immediate product and project responsibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated maturity.
  • Ability to teach and coach a tea of analysts.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities independently on an ongoing basis
