Position Summary:
To develop and implement an overriding Global HR strategy that positively supports the Royal Caribbean International business and is at the leading edge of HR practices across the US and Global Markets. To provide strong HR support and service to the business through the attraction, development and retention of top talent; organizational design and change management; policies and standards; and employee engagement practices both shipboard and shoreside. Will act as the conduit between Corporate HR Centers of Expertise and the Brand. Provides HR leadership and development opportunities to team of Global HR professionals both shipboard and shoreside.
Career Snapshot:
- Ensure employment branding is established and known across the shipboard and shoreside organization and links to all stages of the employment life cycle including recruitment, selection, development, engagement and retention.
- Develop and maintain employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention strategies for all areas of the onboard business
- Develop and implement programs and initiatives to efficiently administer all employee processes and policies in the employee lifecycle, including onboarding of new hires, succession planning programs, talent review processes
- Direct and monitor performance of all onboard HR staff, ensuring performance metrics and practices are aligned with organizational priorities and HR best practices
- Partner with Fleet Operations to strategically conduct workforce planning in the global deployment environment, maintaining fleet wide par levels
- Support organizational design initiatives and lead change management efforts and ensure HR structure is appropriate at operational level within each business unit and fully reflects the principles and practices desired of the organization.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements as well as company policies regarding safe and competent manning onboard vessels
- Maintain good understanding of critical business issues relating to Global markets and ensure that the HR strategy and HR leadership continues to provide appropriate support for relevant initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources
- Minimum of 10-12 years of HR Leadership experience in a global market covering a wide scope of positions with a minimum of 7 years in a strategic leadership position
- Proven ability to manage a team of independent human resources professionals
- Solid HR generalist experience
- Ability to positively influence and build credible relationships at senior levels across different cultures and geographies
- Previous experience developing and implementing HR strategy/vision in a Global environment
- Ability to travel 30% of time
- Successfully led HR and Training teams across cultures and geographies
- Proven ability to work successfully in changing environments and to work with ambiguity
- High level of sensitivity to Global cultural differences and respectful of different working practices across geographies
- Ability to communicate tactfully with department heads, directors, coworkers and shipboard employees to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions.
Preferences:
- Masters degree in Business or Human Resources
- Experience managing a maritime HR organization with at least 10,000 onboard employees
- Knowledge of accepted human resources practices and the laws governing employment and fair treatment of employees in the United States and Internationally including, but not limited to, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Age Discrimination in Employment Act as amended in 1978 and 1986. Knowledge of international labor laws (ILO, IMF, ITF) and the Jones Act
- Strong project management and organizational skills
