Sailor – River Ships

The sailor needs to have a River Ship experience. The Sailor is responsible for all necessary tasks on the ships which have to do with repairing and

maintaining the ship.  He/she will work on a “6-weeks on, 2-weeks off” bases. The hours are flexible

from Monday through Sunday, dependent on sailing times and maintenance duties.

The Sailor reports to the Nautical Manager.

TASKS

•  Handling ships' mooring lines during docking or departing
•  Repairing, stowing and preparing deck equipment
•  Scrubbing deck areas and cleaning crew quarters
•  Coiling and splicing lines and cables

REQUIREMENTS

• At least two year of inland River Ship experience in a comparable position
• Knowledge of all parts of ships
• Ability to tie common knots
• Seaman’s book  
• Qualified to take charge of lifeboat crews and be familiar with fire safety and fire-fighting regulations
• English language
• Knowledge of German language will be considered an advantage
• Friendly appearance and in good health
• Flexible and enthusiastic
• Hard worker
