As the Junior Chief Engineer, you will serve as the Chief Engineer’s principal assistant in all matters regarding the operation, maintenance and administration of the Engineering Division. Under the direction of the Chief Engineer assigns, directs, and supervises the daily work and watch standing of the Engineers in the Department.

Career snapshot:

  • Accountable for the Engineering Division in the Chief Engineer’s absence
  • Reports updates to the Chief Engineer regarding the material status of the vessel and assigned equipment
  • Oversees the performance of routine maintenance and repairs
  • Completes all scheduled maintenance items and supervises the consumption and purification of fuel as directed by the Chief Engineer
  • Supervises all Engine Department personnel, and maintains a presence in the Engine Room as necessary and during all maneuverings
  • Serves as damage control officer of the ship

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a Maritime Academy
  • Holds an unlimited Chief Engineer’s License in accordance with the STCW (regulations III/2) convention issued by a country that has ratified the convention
  • Must have received training in accordance with the STCW
  • Previous experience as Staff Chief Engineer on a large vessel in the cruise industry
  • Solid professional ethics
  • Verbal and written proficiency in English, with the ability to speak the language clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests
  • All international applicants must have the ability to obtain C1/D visa (and other relevant visas) when applicable
  • Must meet all physical requirements, including the ability to participate in emergency life-saving drills and required training
