Position Summary:


As the Royal Caribbean User Experience Designer you will be responsible for leading the development of user journeys and the design of the user experience of our digital products and enhancements that help our customers research, purchase, plan, and manage the vacation of a lifetime. As the User Experience Architect you will be an integral member of the digital marketing department actively building and designing the next generation of the Royal Caribbean website, Cruise Vacation Planning Portals, promotional landing pages, mobile websites, and apps with the goal of driving engagement, loyalty, and ultimately sales conversion. Your work will be experienced by well over 50MM visitors a year and is essential in helping our consumers experience the ultimate vacation on the u201cbest overall cruise lineu201d as voted by Travel Weekly for the last 11 years. The ideal candidate will deliver the brand as a service to drive customer lifetime value by creating an engaging online shopping experience unrivaled in the cruise vacation industry. 

On a daily basis the User Experience Designer's main responsibility is to design the consumer journey, user interface architecture, interaction flows, and implement best usability practices for new and existing products and services across desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms.  You will work with multiple groups to solve complex user problems by leading and running collaboration with mutli-disciplinary teams to conceive, describe, and craft useful digital products and services.  You will ensure the user experience delivers on the strategic vision and is achievable within the technical constraints of the project.

The ideal candidate will lead research and strategy to understand and solve for customer needs and barriers, will be mindful of the latest eCommerce, web, and mobile best practices knowing when to adopt conventions and when to introduce original concepts. You will employ a combination of qualitative methods to understand consumer behavior and know how to leverage metrics and A/B test results to inform design solutioning. By managing the user experience throughout the entire development lifecycle you can always expect to have your hands dirty and keep them that way, as you take research findings and brand principles to conduct user-center design, conduct wireframing sessions, build prototypes and ultimately deploy and measure your design solutions.

  • Creating compelling stories to support proposed solutions that support our user-centered design approach and capture internal clients and colleagues imaginations to gain buy-in

  • Collaborating closely with planners, designers and developers to help shape solutions and to rapidly visualize a proposition, through sketching, wire framing, and prototyping

  • Producing detailed user experience deliverables from user personas and journeys, wireframes, site maps and user flows to functional specifications, content maps and matrixes

  • Development of user experience solutions for use in A/B testing to optimize goal completion rates

  • Continual improvement of internal user experience processes and methodologies by adopting the latest developments in the UX community and wider digital industry to keep Royal Caribbean on the cutting edge of experience design

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in HCI, design, UX, or equivalent professional experience

  • 7 years of relevant experience in web design and information architecture with websites and/or apps

  • 5 years of experience designing (ux, wireframing, or visual) innovative award winning websites

  • 1 year of working experience in designing for responsive breakpoints for desktop, tablet, and mobile

  • Deep understanding of design fundamentals including layout, typography, and color

  • Strong understanding of technical front-end development technologies including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, AJAX, Bootstrap, and

  • Responsive design frameworks such as Foundation

  • Experience with design tools such as Axure, Visio, Balsamiq, Photoshop, InDesign

  • Solid understanding of web analytics (Google Analytics, SiteCatalyst, CoreMetrics, WebTrends) and how they inform product enhancements

  • Extensive experience of planning and costing projects and designing collaborative appropriate and imaginative delivery processes, agreeing deliverables
    u2022 Significant experience of leading, inspiring and managing teams and being responsible for the overall UX delivery
    u2022 Comfortable leading design processes, approach and techniques for projects
    u2022 Experience crafting creative solutions
    u2022 Comfortable rapidly sketching concepts and prototypes as well as producing formal UX deliverables i.e. wireframes and site maps
    u2022 Experience writing functional specifications and producing detailed content matrix
    u2022 Experience of user testing/research and the ability to interpret results
