Position Summary:

The Senior Financial Systems Analyst is responsible to understand current business practices and work collaboratively with Accounting, IT teams and business partners to identify opportunities for business changes/improvements in connection with Accounting-related information systems (JDEdwards). This person will act as an advocate for the business regarding prioritization of systems related efforts according to business needs, ensuring that technology solutions provided are aligned with business goals to achieve or exceed customer's expectations. They will use functional knowledge and accounting expertise to engage with technical peers to define strategic direction to solve complex business problems, by means of a systematic and disciplined approach. This position employs business process knowledge, analysis, testing, and collaboration with technical peers to accomplish assignments.

  • Leads initiation, planning and management of JDE portfolio to meet customer needs and business strategy
  • Collaborates with internal and external constituents, including vendors, to meet common goals and resolve conflicting issues
  • Leads, directs, and provides functional guidance to team
  • Senior expertise in multiple facets of systems (i.e. Accounts payable, general ledger, report writing, querying, receivables, revenue recognition, air financials and multicurrency revaluation)
  • Communicates status of current efforts on a timely basis to management team, including status of cross departmental efforts
  • Facilitates analysis and formatting of processes or systems to parallel overall business strategies
  • Communicates with all levels of personnel, including senior management
  • Analyzes, queries data, and creates sophisticated reports using approved reporting tools to provide management with requested information from the system
  • Recommend to the Business area ways to streamline and automate functions designed to improve business effectiveness and efficiency
  • Responsible for recommending and executing controls in connection with the Company's Sarbanes Oxley compliance requirements that processes are designed to insure financial data integrity, and be able to report on this to Audit Group as needed
  • Interprets, refines, and applies methods and procedures in accordance with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Information Technology industry standards, and best practices as defined by Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd.
  • Remains current with industry trends in order to conceive, prototype, and recommend functional systematic approaches to meet accounting needs
     

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Information Systems
  • 5( ) years of experience in the field or related field
  • Experience working with JDE Enterprise 1
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of both information systems as well as accounting
  • Above average Excel, VBA knowledge, and MS Access
  • Expertise in analysis and requirements gathering process, testing, tools, and best practices
  • Subject matter experience in at least two facets of the accounting field (i.e. accounts payable, general ledger, fixed assets, security, revenue recognition, air financials, etc.)
  • Demonstrates a certain degree of creativity with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to contribute to the formulation, communication, and implementation of technical solutions with little guidance needed
  • Proven ability to collaborate across the Accounting and I.T. organization and with the various business partners
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision. May lead or direct work of other
  • Strong with IT and accounting methodologies, tools, best practices, and processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferences:

  • Master's Degree in Accounting or Information Systems
  • Payroll experience
