As our Public Health Specialist, you will be a part of our exciting, high-volume shipboard operation team. The Public Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for coordinating the execution of the company’s Public Health Program and ensuring the company’s public health standards are met and/or exceeded onboard.

Career snapshot: 

  • The areas included in the scope of the program include, but are not limited to, Food Safety, Water Safety (Potable and Recreational water systems), Integrated Pest Management, Outbreak Prevention and Regulatory Compliance.
  • Coordinates with all divisions that perform public health related functions to ensure adherence with the highest operational standards of public health and compliance with company’s public health policies as stated in SQM, SOPs, etc
  • Ensures company policy meets and/or exceeds regulations and requirements set forth by Public Health Regulatory Agencies world-wide including USPH-VSP, ShipSan, ANVISA, etc.
  • As directed by the Staff Captain, assists in all accident and investigation procedures
  • Conducts periodic public health inspections, provides guidance and support for all public health related issues and assists in the timely follow up and implementation of corrective action for internal and external inspections
  • Organizes and delivers public health training to shipboard staff (class room style), ensuring awareness of all OPP protocols, public health standards, regulations and policies.  Also, periodically verifies OPP Par levels.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or related area preferred
  • Four years experience implementing and evaluating public health programs in the hospitality industry (preferably high volume, large scale company)
  • Coordinates with all divisions that perform public health related functions to ensure adherence with the highest operational standards of public health and compliance with company’s public health policies as stated in SQM, SOPs, etc
  • Ensures company policy meets and/or exceeds regulations and requirements set forth by Public Health Regulatory Agencies
  • Ability to speak, read and write English clearly and distinctly with guests and employees
  • All international applicants must have the ability to obtain C1/D visa (and other relevant visas) when applicable
  • Must meet all physical requirements, including the ability to participate in emergency life-saving drills and required training

Preferences:

  • Cruise ship experience
  • Experience working with world-wide sanitation agencies principles (USPH-VSP, ShipSan, ANVISA, etc)
  • Ability to speak, read and write multiple languages is a plus
