Responsible for the Nautical team on board, the nautical program and the maintenance on board of the assigned vessel. Works closely with the Hotel Manager on board. Reports to Nautical Manager and/or Management in the main office.
Requirements
- Secondary school
- Rhine patent (Danube patent preferred but not required)
- Radar patent
- In perfect command of the Dutch language
- In good command of the German and English language
- French language preferred but not required
- Good health and presentation
- Enthusiastic and flexible
- Willing to be away from home for a longer period of time
- Pro-active and willing to work hard
- Willing to wear a uniform / company clothing
- Preferably in possession of a First Aid certificate

Job description
The Captain is the business card of the company. The Captain always handles situations in correct manners, shows concern for the company goals and is knowledgeable in his duties. Not only leading the nautical team, but also the correct handling of Guests is a must.
The Captain is responsible for the ship, safety and security of the crew and the guests at all times. Together with the Hotel Manager, the Captain is also responsible for the good operation of the Hotel operation on board.
The Captain leads the nautical team but can work with them and perform nautical duties if the situation requires this. He makes the work schedules, monitors the work and assists when necessary, this applies to Hotel operation as well if needed.
The Captain motivates and stimulates the crew to provide a pleasant working atmosphere. At the same time the Captain assures a working environment with discipline and makes sure that the house rules and terms in the individual labour contracts are being followed at all times.
The Captain keeps in contact with the guests and tour leaders, he performs as a host and attends special occasions like ceremonies, welcome and farewell dinners.
Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship.
Language Requirements
Good knowledge of the following languages is required: English, German
