Position Summary:

This position is responsible for managing all shipboard entertainment and activities to ensure the Celebrity experience and style is delivered throughout the guests' cruise experience. In addition, to build consistency of brand standards throughout the fleet the Manager of Entertainment must possess the ability to oversee budget creation, production, design and innovation of new production shows, and variety entertainment. Is responsible to oversee the Entertainment day to day operation of his/her groups (A,B). Responsible for managing production and talent companies to ensure Celebrity standards are maintained and experience evolves. Responsible for establishing and meeting annual budgets.

Responsibilities:

  • Must have finger on the pulse of contemporary, current national and international entertainment industry.
  • Implementation, supervision and maintenance of Entertainment programming, including, Variety Entertainment, Guest Entertainers, Musicians and In Port Entertainment.
  • Oversee hiring of Guest Entertainers for Celebrity Cruises.
  • To interface with Cruise Directors, Hotel Directors and other Department Heads onboard to achieve the corporate objective of a customer oriented philosophy onboard, while supporting all efforts to achieve targets in ratings and onboard revenue.
  • Work to develop all specialists in Entertainment and key reporting staff so they can operate more professionally and ensure quality control by paying stringent attention to agreed standards and measurements for customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with producers to create new shows.
  • Will initiate and follow company SQM policies.
  • Will coordinate and facilitate the effort of implementing new programs, systems, as mandated by the home office.
  • Must possess a high level of artistic creativity to assist in the production and implementation of new production shows.
  • Will directly supervise and manage line positions under his/her perusal, and liaise between these positions and the Director, Entertainment and Cruise Programs. These positions include Entertainment Specialists Musicians, and, Entertainment Travel Coordinator.
  • Develop and improve consistent Entertainment Department programming and projects that will be ultimately installed fleet wide.
  • May be required to act as Celebrity Cruises spokesperson on media or public speaking engagements.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Formation and execution of Entertainment Budgets with Director, Entertainment and Cruise Programs
  • Managing budget for Guest Entertainers
  • May be required to sign Entertainers check request
  • May be required to approve Entertainers flights
  • May be required to approve Cabin Requests (ECCR) for Entertainers.
  • Code invoices and submit to Director of Entertainment and Cruise Programs for approval
  • Approve entertainer guests requests

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years overall management experience required.
  • Minimum of three years experience in management position in the Cruise Industry, or it's equivalent is preferred
  • Previous experience on the management corporate level is essential.
  • A High School diploma is required, with at least two years college experience preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Cruise Director a plus.
  • May be required to travel approximately 30% of the work related time on ships.
  • This individual will work a minimum of 70% of the work time, in the Miami Office.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Successful candidate should have a sound knowledge of technical applications as may apply to Entertainment onboard our vessels.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and legal documents.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, groups of managers, employees, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries.
  • Ability to work, interact, and communicate with internal/external personnel at all levels.
  • Ability to build and maintain successful business relationships throughout the department and the company as a whole.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, and the ability to apply such concepts to job.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • A reasonable knowledge of computer programs, and the ability to develop and install computer applications to existing and new programs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Superior decision making skills required, including the ability to think critically and use independent judgment.
