2. Institutional Aim

Coordinates and organizes all the hotel maintenance interventions and technical supplies for the Hotel section; cooperates with
the Chief Engineer for the maintenance works follow up related to the engine section accomplishment.

3. Main activities / responsabilities

  • In charge of the hotel maintenance, coordinating the staff that is directly reporting to him for executing furniture, flooring, tiling, carpeting, fittings maintenance works or issuing the needed requisitions for the related spare parts or technical consumables.
  • In charge to check and control the external suppliers’ activity when carrying out maintenance works onboard in the hotel section
  • He coordinates and supervises all maintenance activities in the hotel areas (even if not under his direct responsibility), checking that the solution adopted guarantees the most durable effect.
  • In full cooperation with the Chief Engineer, gives priority information of the maintenance orders in the hotel section for optimizing fulfilment of the works.
  • He controls the assigned hotel maintenance budget, in cooperation with Hotel Maintenance Dept ashore.
  • Responsible for monitoring through the Infoship system the work orders flow, follow up and purchase orders issuing requisitions, concerning the hotel technical items and consumables under his budget control. Requests /purchase orders issuing will be performed with the strict cooperation of Deck and Engine storekeepers and Infoship Administrator ashore for the updating of the database and correct coding.
  • He analyzes the nature and quantity of WO in order to identify recurring problems and relevant root causes.
  • He assign new items on Work List Infoship, check reply by hotel superintendent and close item after end works of suppliers
  • He is fully responsible of the inventory situation updating related to the hotel technical and consumables items under his budget responsibility by the onboard Deck storekeeper and Engine storekeeper. The Deck storekeeper is reporting directly to the HMO.
  • Prepare monthly reports on hotel maintenance activities, work orders flow and purchase orders status, highlighting with a proper alert challenging situations or priorities for granting the onboard services or customer satisfaction.
  • Prepares the Hand over report before disembarkation
  • He is responsible for the safety on the work place of his personnel (Carpenters, Hotel fitters, Upholsterers). He needs to make sure that all machineries are kept according to the applicable rules.
  • He keeps track of the working hours of the Maintenance team on the CAIM register of the Hotel Director (EU and non EU personnel). The Time tracking software can be used as additional and internal tool ONLY.
  • Is in charge of the training relevant to Environmental, Safety, 271 for his personnel (Carpenters, Hotel fitters, Upholsterers).
  • Coordinates the mentoring activities according to Company procedure.
  • Evaluates skills and performance of his team, highlighting both low and outstanding performances.
  • He performs inspections of the ship status and prepares the work lists to be done in operation and during dry-dock, with exhaustive specifications for all the items requested.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
