As Traveling Chief Housekeeper, you will be working alongside a multicultural, world-class team.   You will be establishing and supporting a positive working environment across all ships and focuses on ensuring operational goals are met. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for motivating, coaching, training, and evaluating the performance of the Chief Housekeepers (in conjunction with the Hotel Director). Needs to develop housekeeping processes, procedures, guidelines and checklists for review.  All best practices need to be shared fleet-wide.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to all Chief Housekeepers and Assistant Chief Housekeepers.  Assists with structured training programs for all Housekeeping positions.
  • Makes use of guest comment card to track, monitor, and measure the fleet-wide performance of the Housekeeping team. Through regular communication with the Chief Housekeepers provides feedback and when necessary suggests changes to ensure successful delivery of Housekeeping service.
  • Monitors along with the Chief housekeeper the consumable and replaceable budget to make sure the department is within the guidance.  Reviews all outstanding consumable and replaceable orders to make sure the proper orders are being placed.
  • Conducts an audit of the entire Housekeeping department and reports all findings to the Hotel Director and to the shore side team.  The audits include checking linen inventory, equipment inventory, equipment maintenance, mattress maintenance, and brand standards are being met.  Helps teach the Chief Housekeeper how to perform regular self-audits of the department.
  • Mentors, coaches, and helps develop the Chief Housekeepers performance and management style. Helps the Chief Housekeeper achieve and exceed all goals and targets set forth for the department.  Challenges the Chief Housekeeper to constantly identify and develop new ways to enhance and improve the department.
  • Observes and evaluates the Housekeeping management team. Gives the Housekeeping team open and honest feedback. This should be done constantly both in formal evaluations and also informally during ships visits to further each team member’s personal development. Ensures all staterooms, suites, and public areas are meeting company brand standards.

Qualifications

Hiring Requirements:

  • Five to seven years housekeeping managerial experience in an upscale hotel, resort or cruise line (shipboard experience preferred).
  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.
  • Extensive knowledge of cleaning procedures with regard to public health standards.
  • Extensive knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements and use of equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of proper chemical handling.
  • Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing personalized services including needs assessment techniques, quality service standards, alternative delivery systems, and guest satisfaction evaluation techniques.
