Position Summary:

This position will serve as Director of Tour Product Development for TourTrek which is a technology startup company focused on selling global destination experiences on the internet.General responsibilities include providing leadership and strategic vision for the development of exceptional destination experiences focused on capturing cruise and non-cruise guests to be marketed and sold by TourTrek. The development of these experiences will include shore excursions for cruises, packaged land tour experiences for inbound traveler, pre and post land tour packages, transfers, hotel accommodations and other customized experiences. Leadership responsibilities include the oversight of a team of destination professionals responsible for selecting/developing/maintaining tour operator relationships. The position will be based and/or require significant travel into the Cayman Islands. Qualifying for a work permit and establishing residency and/or extended stays are essential requirements of the position.

  • Works cross functionally with leadership team to develop companyu00bfs business plan, goals and direction, this includes: defining/refining the company vision, fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and instilling the highest ethical standards
  • Provides leadership and guidance in the development of tour concepts, strategies and supports the eCommerce business by developing exceptional experiences for our guests
  • Provides vision and goals for the tour program framework in creating exceptional guest experiences based on the companyu00bfs branding and intended target markets
  • Collaborates cross functionally with leadership team regarding the design and development of the RFP process associated with the selection of tour operators and securing the best pricing
  • Provides leadership and guidance to a team of destination professionals responsible for executing the RFP process in selecting/developing/maintaining tour operator relationships including cost negotiations and contract management
  • Oversees the day to day process of securing tour inventory allocation, maintaining accurate costs, making these products available for sale in the system
  • Responsible for designing the companyu00bfs tour quality standards and provides feedback to the tour operators with expected actions within specified timeframe
  • Monitors cruise line deployment, tour trends and destination events to identify opportunities do develop other destination or tour products. With this responsibility, oversees the day to day entry of deployment schedules into the system
  • Works cross functionally with leadership team to ensures shareholder value by maximizing profits and developing strategies that achieve the highest ROIC.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required in related discipline
  • Minimum 7 years' experience with an international cruise line or worldwide tour operator (preferably in shore excursion/tour department)
  • Minimum 10 years' proven management experience in a multidimensional organization
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the travel industry with a focus on destination delivery
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with guests, international vendors and all levels of employees and management, both shipboard and shoreside
  • Strong negotiating skills and understanding of legal contracts
  • Strong understanding of systems, internal controls and the ability to develop processes and procedures to support the company's operations
  • Working knowledge of personal computers with associated financial software and communication packages

Preferences:

  • MBA and/or other professional certification
  • International business experience
