Position Summary:

  • This position is solely responsible for identifying, casting, negotiating and hiring high level talent for all Vocalists, Specialty Vocalists, Singer/Dancers, Specialty Act, and Atmospheric Performers & Vocal Directors. This role is responsible for managing the Celebrity Studio Productions Music Department including:
  • organizing & preparing/printing vocal scores, band charts, cast scorebooks, rehearsal cd's and overseeing all vocal music direction. Will coordinate and conduct vocal director interviews & schedule teaching staff for each rehearsals process. Will supervise and maintain onsite recording studio as well as rehearsal studios sound equipment (microphones, keyboards, amps, cables, etc.). Oversee and prepare music materials for all theme events, venue entertainment shore-side events and website.

Responsibilities:

  • Review audition information/videos to cast & hire singers according to range, style, vocal ability, experience, height, weight and dance ability that best complements each individual show, will assist as well in hiring specialty acts & any other position which may be added into the Entertainment program for Celebrity Cruises. Will also audition, interview, hire schedule and assist in the training and managing of Vocal Directors and Line Producers.
  • Will attend all auditions to ensure the highest level of talent is secured at all times.
  • Measures the effectiveness of each seasoned professional according to style and technical ability that best compliments each individual track in each specific production number.
  • Assists Lead Production & Studio Operations with the scheduling, planning and booking of all Audition Tours.
  • Submits offers to potential singers and artists with initial contract detail offers and obtain all imperative information to complete and prepare Cast Employment Worksheets delivered to Production Coordinator to generate contracts
  • Analyzes and identifies problems, with product and performers while attending rehearsals to maintain the highest quality standards. Generate progress report for each singer in conjunction with Vocal Director assigned to project and handle all singers disciplinary actions and procedures (verbal & written warnings) during rehearsals
  • Solely casts and confirms all replacement contracts to include booking cabins, requesting costumers, confirm valid & approved medicals, passports or any additional documentation.
  • Works with other Casting Specialists to conduct Interviews and confirms the cast leadership positions. Will meet with all Captains/Coordinators to go over the responsibilities and guidelines for each position prior to boarding the vessel & will acquire the signed JD addendums for each performer.
  • Organize and prepare Vocal Director & Line Producer rehearsal materials, Archives Production Show Music, Oversees RCCL Recording Studio (on premises).
  • Work closely with Manager, Production Operations and Creative Teams in regard to new show concepts, existing or New Builds and sets each song in the appropriate key for each track before final recordings are made and approve all vocal score arrangements prior to final print out/documentation
  • Coordinate and provide all agents with updated audition material directly for their clients.
  • Assists in monitoring Celebrity production standards via reporting system.  Follows Ratings trends for fleet entertainment and uses this data to support vessels to continuously help the vessels improve our entertainment product
  • Will work directly with the Production Coordinator in ensuring all cabin requests and flights are booked as needed for all cast changeover, show installations and new ship openings.
  • Maintains Music Program at studio including but not limited to, purchase studio audio equipment, organize all repairs including cd players, keyboards, mics, music stands, mixing consoles, sound boards, speakers, boom boxes, amps, cd duplicators, Shure SLX receivers, Shure SLX body pack transmitters, stereo systems, iPods, cables, etc.
  • Submit Purchase requests for CDs, DVDs, latex gloves, batteries, ink cartridges (tri-color & black), floor tape, ice packs, etc.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Music Degree/Musical Theater Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field preferred or Seven to Ten years of experience in the entertainment industry. Cruise industry experience, both ship-board and shore-side are required.
  • 5 years of vocal training and or performance/music theory
  • Previous casting/recruitment experience
  • Successful experience working on projects with shore side and shipboard personnel pertaining to various aspects productions/entertainment of the cruise industry.
  • Excellent understanding of policies and procedures regarding work ethics, hiring and termination of personnel.
  • Conversant Spanish speaker a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate and interact with internal and external personnel at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Software: working knowledge of personal computers with in a Windows environment with email, Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint, and related printers and equipment.
  • Must have good problem solving skills and ability to manage last minute emergencies in a calm and organized manner.
  • Able to work long hours and weekends when required. Able to travel if required.
  • Travel Requirements: Position travels approximately 40% of the time on ships and audition tours. This individual will work a minimum of 60% of time in the Miami Office.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge Vocal part assignments, vocal performance/acting coaching. Past performance experience is a must in this position
  • In Depth knowledge of current library of Production Shows to include understanding of talent requirements and tracking.
  • Excellent communications skills and strong decision making abilities.
  • Knowledge in negotiation process.
  • Knowledge of Finale/Sibelius Computer Programs
  • Excellent Piano & Sight Reading skills required.
  • Proficient verbal and written communications skills, ability to read and interpret business documents, instructions, and related media material; able to write and generate reports and procedures. Spanish speaking skills a plus.
  • Ability to make sound judgment calls and have very effective problem solving skills
  • Ability to take complete ownership of a problem and seeing it through to a resolution.
  • Knowledgeable in recruiting and selecting cast members.
  • Able to conduct presentations and communicate with senior management, groups, employees, client and the public.
  • Knowledgeable of necessary documentation and other travel requirements for cast members.
  • Knowledgeable of all contract specifics to provide details to new cast members.
  • Ability to work, interact and communicate with internal/external personnel at all levels, able to build and maintain successful business relationships throughout the department and the company as a whole.
  • Reasonable knowledge of computer programs listed above, and the ability to develop and install computer applications to existing and new programs.
  • Ability to think critically, use independent judgment and exercise decision-making skills.
