Position Summary:

Responsible for international tax research, structuring international transactions, analyzing the impact and consequences of activities in different countries, deployment tax planning and reviewing/assisting with international compliance, tax account reconciliations. Manage, lead and develop the international tax analysts.

Career Snapshot:

  • Conducts research to determine the international direct and indirect tax impact and consequences of proposed business activities internationally
  • Assists the Director, International Tax in designing tax strategy and structure for various international transactions undertaken by the Company and to advise senior management regarding the effects of business activities on international direct and indirect taxes, and on strategies for minimizing such tax liabilities
  • Consults with legal department, controller's office, commercial development, strategic planning, itinerary and deployment planning and other departments on acquisitions, transactions, contracts, business arrangements, inter-company transactions, etc. being considered by the Company addressing the relevant global tax aspects of these arrangements
  • Liaises with finance directors of foreign offices to review tax provisions, confirm filing of tax returns, ASC 740 compliance, monitor audits and tax exposures and assist with transactions or tax matters that arise and tax account reconciliation process
  • Assists in key decision-making on various day-to-day tax issues arising from all areas of the Company
  • Serves as a supporting liaison with outside tax counsel and tax professionals, and monitors projects for which such individuals are engaged
  • Represents the Company before international taxing authorities and the negotiation of settlements on behalf of the Company
  • Monitors case law and tax legislation, and advises of potential impact any changes may have on the Company
  • Assists in performing tax due diligence of any potential acquisition candidate
  • Oversees compliance and transfer pricing requirements of foreign subsidiaries.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Business and Masters Degree in Taxation or Juris Doctorate (JD) with specialization in International Tax required
  • 7-9 years combined experience [required] at a national or international public accounting firm or law firm and large in-house corporate tax department preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Juris Doctorate (JD) required
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills, excellent judgment and the ability to make decisions and assess acceptable levels of business risk
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management, including the ability to simplify technical tax jargon
  • Ability to analyze, and interpret general tax periodicals, professional tax journals, foreign countries tax laws and regulations
  • Ability to write technical tax memos and business correspondence
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, on-line research tools
