Position Summary:

The Software Engineer role is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of Information Technology computer systems and software applications.  The Software Engineer uses technical knowledge and functional subject matter expertise to solve increasingly complex business problems by means of a systematic and disciplined approach. This position employs software, hardware, and/or communication technologies to accomplish objectives.

• Designs, developments, and tests software applications
• Translates business requirements into software programs 
• Evaluates business requirements and recommend software technologies, tools, and solutions that meet business needs 
• Supports, develops, and maintains software business systems
• Documents and modify software specifications throughout the development life cycle
• Performs tuning and optimization of software applications
• Participates in the testing and certification processes
• Interprets, refines, and applies methods and procedures in accordance with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Information Technology industry standards and best practices as defined by Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. 

Requirements:

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technology, or equivalent experience
• 5-7 years of experience in Software Engineering / Information Technology or related area
• Demonstrates solid knowledge and capabilities in the development of software applications and systems
• Knowledge of computer science or engineering technical concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
• Able to communicate and implement technical solutions
• Proven ability to collaborate with technical and functional peers
• Capable of working independently and as part of a team.  May assist and guide more junior staff as necessary
• Demonstrate a certain degree of creativity with analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong with methodologies, tools, best practices, and processes within specific area of responsibility
