Manager, Social Media

Position Summary:The Manager of Social Media is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of the social media strategy for the Royal Caribbean International brand.

As a key member of the eCommerce team, this person will assist in driving results through compelling fan engagement and storytelling within Royal Caribbean's social platforms and across key online communities, including publishing, community management and assisting in the creation of social programs that maximize the reach of the Royal Caribbean International brand to passionate cruise and new to cruise fans everywhere.

The Social Media Manager will help drive digital initiatives, including creating and supervising high-profile social channel accounts, curating user-generated content, launching viral marketing campaigns, and integrating social media into the overall business strategy. The position requires a strong understanding of social media trends and their impact on the brand.

This role supervises the social media team and coordinates closely with eCommerce, Creative Services, Customer Service, Brand Communications, Corporate Communications, Operations, One-to-One Marketing, agency partners and others to create and drive a social media strategy that supports the Brand mission. The position ensures our social media and consumer-generated content is fully integrated with other marketing and operational efforts across the brand. This is a critical position within the Marketing organization and an amazing opportunity for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of the strategic roadmap for social media integration throughout the cruise vacation planning experience by driving integration where appropriate, including onboard our ships
  • Work with the appropriate internal departments and external partners to drive decisions regarding Social Media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy.
  • Assist driving Royal Caribbeanu00bfs content strategy across all digital and social ecosystems.
  • Work with eCommerce team to drive purchase intent through content marketing via paid media amplification.
  • Manage the Social Media team, ensuring leadership, quality of strategic execution and project delivery is provided at all times
  • Coordinate the planning of social media campaigns, ensuring customer acquisition and supporting key marketing initiatives
  • Work with the Guest Relations team to ensure flawless execution in the resolution Customer Service issues across all Social Media properties via listening and publishing platforms
  • Continuously optimize efforts by setting benchmarks and analyzing data, ensuring campaign targets are met
  • Source and manage relationships with strategic partners, social media agencies and social monitoring platforms to support and develop operational and commercial opportunities
  • Monitor and comment on trends in social media trends and application, acting as subject matter expert within the company
  • Become an advocate for the company in industry Social Media spaces, engaging in dialogues where appropriate.
  • Monitor the marketplace and be aware of innovations, changes and developments
  • Identify competitive opportunities and threats in social channels and develop appropriate responses
  • Manage staff, provide ongoing coaching and feedback and assist in use of personal development plans and periodic performance reviews to meet individual staff goals.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Financial Responsibilities:

Manage social media budget, including monthly marketing accruals, invoice approval and annual planning.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required preferable in marketing or in a relevant field
  • Minimum 6 years experience in digital and social media marketing, ideally with driving social media in large, complex, and aggressive organizations.
  • Proficient in content marketing theory and application. Experience sourcing and managing content development and publishing.
  • Exhibits the ability to jump from the creative side of marketing to analytical side, able to demonstrate why their ideas are analytically sound.
  • Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of Social Media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Google , YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios.
  • Maintains excellent writing and language skills.
  • Enjoys a working knowledge of the blogging ecosystem relevant to the Company's field.
  • Displays ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and video format.
  • Is a Team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees when necessary. (ie: content development, creation and editing of content, and online reputation management).
  • Makes evident good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research
  • Possesses functional knowledge and/or personal experience with WordPress.
  • Demonstrates winning Social Customer Service techniques. Possesses great ability to identify potential negative or crisis situation and apply conflict resolution principles to mitigate issues.
