The Global Shipboard Compensation Analyst will serve as a subject matter expert to ensure that compensation is competitive versus the market, fair and equitable internally across divisions and functions, and provides sensible job progression potential. The individual in this role is also responsible for shipboard compensation administration and will provide internal customers with workable solutions aligned with business goals.

Career Snapshot:

  • Ensure that all shipboard compensation programs comply with applicable laws and regulations (CBAs) and within corporate guidelines; stay abreast of evolving thinking of governmental entities in anticipation of future changes.
  • Evaluates shipboard positions using existing job evaluation methodology, market pricing, and internal equity to determine pay ranges and wage grids
  • Conducts competitive wage analysis, and liaise with operations to understand business needs and make appropriate recommendations for corrective action as needed
  • Administers and oversees the shipboard annual salary review process and annual bonus calculations based on eligibility criteria identified through reporting
  • Supports Shipboard Compensation Leads by undertaking research, providing reports, generating compensation planning spreadsheets, validating employee status and dealing with day to day queries from Shipboard and Shoreside customers as well as assisting with ongoing projects and ad hoc requests
  • Prepares and reviews discrepancy reports to ensure accuracy in employee data
  • Supports implementation of new compensation policies and processes, and develops communication and training materials to maximize understanding and perceived value
  • Reviews and analyzes shipboard compensation workflow process and makes recommendations for enhancements to current business practices that will create efficiencies
  • Works with technical team (HRIS/IT ) to ensure data accuracy and reporting to meet business unit and system requirements.  In addition, supports E1 testing of fixes and/or enhancements

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college/university in the field of Business Administration or related field is required; a major in Human Resources is preferred.
  • Experience equivalency of 1-2 years within a Human Resources Department; in Compensation or payroll practice, administering compensation policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Familiar and proficient with position evaluation methodology
  • In depth knowledge of HR and compensation/benefits functions, processes, and data management required
  • CBA knowledge highly desirable
  • Must have excellent mathematical and analytical skills, and a high attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Powerpoint, and Excel required
  • Ability to write effectively and present information to top management and stakeholders
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • PeopleSoft/JD Edwards experience preferred
