Cruise Assistant, Worldwide – on-board ship
The Role:
An exciting and very varied role encompassing all areas of the on board Cruise Department product. This role has a structured future progression and is ideally suited to an outgoing ‘people person’ with a love of travel, touring, adventure and teamwork in a sophisticated environment.
Reporting to the Guest Programme Manager and Shore Excursion Manager duties will include Shore Excursion operations, Guest Programme events (entertainment) and Guest Services responsibilities, these will include (but not limited to)
Shore Excursion Responsibilities:
- To man the Shore Excursion Desk in conjunction with the Shore Ex Manager.
- Assist the Shore Excursion Manager with Shore Ex administration (including uploads, ticket runs, booking & cancelling tours etc.)
- Deputise for the Shore Excursion Manager as and when required.
- Actively participate in the day to day delivery of the Shore Excursion operation (including seeing & back tours, loading coaches/shuttles, confirming numbers with agents etc.).
- Escorting tours to provide a knowledgeable reassuring presence for our passengers.
- Assist in the delivery of tours presentations when required.
- To assist with inputting Shore Ex information in the Daily Programme as and when required.
- Escort pre & post cruise tours when required.
- To assist with Shore Excursion arrangements for groups (Road Scholars, RHS, NADFAS etc.)
Guest Programme & Entertainment Responsibilities:
- To present a recognisable engaging personality to our passengers by realising all PR opportunities (doors, deck parties, events and on more informal 1 to 1 occasions)
- Host/present entertainment events where required (quiz’s, bring on & off guest speakers/artists, arts, crafts and events etc.)
- Assist Guest Programme Manager in the smooth running of the Library, games, puzzles and card room.
- To assist with inputting Entertainment information in the Daily Programme as and when required.
- Attend and actively participate in ship board events & functions (Welcome/Farewell Gala’s, Solo Travellers Party, Guest Speakers Party, Group Functions, Hosting Tables)
Guest Services Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the passenger turnaround process (disembarkation, embarkation, terminal, airport, meet & greet duties).
- To make public address announcements as and when required (Shore Excursion announcements, Deck Talks, Entertainment announcements etc.)
- To assist in the movement of passengers as and when required (tender operations, shuttles, immigration etc.)
- Assist with the passenger complaint process as and when required.
- Carry out any additional duties as required by the General Manager.
The successful candidate will need:
- Previous experience of working on Cruise Ships
- Outgoing personality with good communication skills at all levels
- An ability to speak in public and make PA announcements
- Good geographical knowledge
- High levels of numeracy
- To be well organised
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Packages especially Excel
- The ability to prioritise own workload
- High levels of accuracy
- To build effective working relationships
- To be flexible
This position will be working on a 12 weeks on 6 weeks off rotation.
Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship, in a 4/5* Hotel or in an Upscale Restaurant.
