Position Summary:
This position is responsible for creating and managing the Shore Excursions and tour programs for a specific geographical region. Responsible for overseeing all product content and delivery, and identify new opportunities that would provide revenue growth and guest satisfaction. The programs represent up to $80 million worth of revenue, and incorporate all ships between the three brands of Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Azamara Club Cruises. A continuous focus is placed on guest satisfaction as it drives revenue; management is placed on retooling of existing products as well as adding and deleting of products as needed. This position is responsible for assessing and responding to guest satisfaction, monitoring the products and implement new products in destinations worldwide. Identify and partner in development of product improvements and new revenue opportunities. Secondarily, duty involves the administration of the shopping and destination lecture program in Europe and other potential regions. It includes, but is not limited to, contracting new venues and expanding the program into non-contracted regions.
Career Snapshot:
- Develops and manages shore excursion programs in relevant ports for Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Azamara Club Cruises brands, and manages the programs on ships cruising in their assigned areas
- Deals directly with at least 10 to 200 tour operators
- Oversees 1,000 tours, and transacts with over 100 ports
- Negotiates product content for shore excursions to ensure competitive pricing
- Manages and evaluates new tour opportunities; identifies competitive threats and guest trends within assigned region, and monitors tour quality
- Strategizes and collaborates to find new and/or improved ways of maximizing revenue streams
- Analyzes market trends to proactively focus on guest driven experiences
- Directs interaction with shipboard shore excursion managers and other shipboard management onboard the vessel to monitor tour product and provide support as needed
- Performs site inspections to areas of responsibility
- Represents the corporation at selected governmental meetings, association functions, cruise industry events, travel industry conventions, and other meetings as required
- Negotiates and contracts tour operators and local establishments regarding revenue commission from advertised shopping program for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (up to 3 brands) for approximately 50 ports and over 150 retailers
- Interacts with various departments, inclusive of, but not limited to, Deployment, Sales & Marketing, Hotel Operations, Guest Port Services, and the international offices
- Participates in legal depositions as required
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent, directly related experience
- 5-7 years of experience in cruise line or tour operator related business with an emphasis in worldwide shore excursion operations
- Requires extensive knowledge of multiple destinations
- Ability to travel up to 50-60% of the time
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of management, guests and employees
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors
- Working knowledge of personal computers
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
