Youth Security - P&O Cruises Australia

P&O Cruises Australia has excellent shipboard opportunities for Youth Security with experience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. As a Youth Security Staff member and part of the onboard security team, you will be charged with enforcing onboard security policies and regulations in general and as it pertains to our younger passengers specifically. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Whilst ensuring that minor passengers have a safe and enjoyable vacation experience, prevent their behavior from having a negative impact on the vacation experience of other passengers
• Provide visible security presence for the enforcement of shipboard policies to unruly minor passengers
• Clearly communicate expectations for appropriate behavior to unruly minor passengers and whenever necessary, disperse minor passengers involved in disruptive behaviors
• Exercise independent judgment within the guidelines prescribed by the Security Officer and when required, notify offenders of possible consequences of misconduct
• In instances which may result in disembarkation, clearly and concisely document situations involving disruptive and/or destructive behavior of minor passengers. Assist Security Officer in investigation of circumstances and events.
• Respond to complaints involving minor passengers
• Enforce onboard curfew
• Patrol cabin corridors, stairwells, upper decks and any other public areas where minor passengers may congregate and when required, discourage unruly behavior
• Maintain awareness of all available activities in Teen/Youth Center and be able to present these as options to groups of minor passengers.
• Provide supervision and security presence at designated shipboard activities
• Bar all passengers from accessing restricted areas of the ship
• Enforce P&O’s “No alcohol to minors policy”
• Enforce age restrictions in onboard casinos, nightclubs and pool/Jacuzzi areas
• Prevent vandalism of ship’s property and equipment
• Other duties as assigned by Security Officer

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Prior experience working with youth and teens in a supervisory role
• Personable communicator with outstanding social skills and a warm, friendly, and caring personality
• Ability to adapt and adjust to a variety of circumstances
• Ability to establish and maintain courteous and professional working relationships in a diverse cultural environment
• Proficiency in the use of computer business applications: Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
• Shipboard experience preferred

Contracts are for six months duration with two months leave in between assignments. The salary is competitive and flights, transfers, accommodation and a uniform are all supplied by the company.
