Carnival UK is looking to appoint an Environmental Compliance Officer to work onboard their fleet of luxury cruise ships. The Environmental Compliance Officer will ensure environmental compliance by providing oversight and assistance to shipboard personnel in complying with National and International laws and regulations.

Drawing on your previous environmental management experience, your challenge will be to ensure ongoing compliance of one of our modern cruise ships. An integral part of your role will be to educate and influence all members of crew, including the senior management team, to the importance of complying with environmental legislation and highlighting its benefits. You’ll also help to plan, implement, monitor and review both protective and preventative measures – making Carnival UK the market leader when it comes to environmental compliance.

Ideally you will have an environmental or engineering background with the relevant qualifications, preferably within the maritime sector. As a self starter, with management experience and a hands on approach you will have proven ability to take ownership of any issues that arise. You will have excellent communication skills along with a proactive and positive approach to protecting the environment.

If you’re a team player with the drive to develop your career with a world-leading ship’s company that comprises the prestigious P&O Cruises and Cunard Line brands, join us on our journey across the seas.

To be successful, you will have:

  • An Environmental degree or equivalent or licensed engineer holding a Class II Certificate of Competency
  • Proven experience of a proactive and positive approach to protecting the environment and assuring compliance with the environmental management system
  • Work to a high level of accuracy and enjoy a “hands on” approach together with the ability to take ownership of any issues that may arise
  • Excellent communication, management and organisation skills
  • Experience in providing work based training
  • Experience of waste minimization/waste management
  • Experience of risk assessments and environmental audits
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in developing training material
  • Understanding of global Marine environmental legislation is also very desirable.

In return, benefits will include:

  • Single accommodation (normally with double berth), with en-suite facilities
  • 12 weeks on/12 weeks off leave ratio
  • Accompanied travel concessions
  • Defined contributions pension scheme
  • Secure employment
