Salary: During training $1500 p/m once training is complete $2,000 p/m
Hours: 6 month contract (Hours are variable)
Reporting to: Sales Manager- Shipboard Operations

We are currently looking for a highly motivated, experienced and passionate Assistant Sales Manager/Retail Manager to join a fantastic fast track programme into management.   It is a great opportunity to move into the Retail Sales Manager position with significant training before taking on full responsibilities.  You will spend the first 3 months working with an experienced Retail Sales Manager while completing a series of training modules. Once completed you will receive an evaluation and if positive you will move into the position of Retail Sales Manager.  

What you will be doing:

Sales

  • As Assistant Sales Manager you will be motivating and coaching the sales team to achieve and/or exceed sales and promotional targets.
  • You will ensure an effective and accurate promotional planner is in place.
  • As Assistant Sales Manager you will train the sales team to ask the guest open-ended questions, promote product value and create desire to buy. overcome objections and close sales.
  • You will create awareness of all add-on items and make sure the team are utilising add on and cross selling and merchandise upgrading techniques.

Service

  • As Assistant Sales Manager you will make sure the sales team is seen as approachable and friendly using creative greetings, professional appearance maintaining eye contact and meeting and greeting each guest.
  • You will train and coach the sales team in establishing rapport and on product knowledge, selling and customer service techniques.
  • You will train the sales team to exceed guest expectations and validate this by actively seeking out guest feedback and managing it accordingly.

Merchandise and Visual

  • As Assistant Sales Manager you will authorise all merchandise received on board according to receiving policy.
  • You will inspect and make sure that all merchandise is properly SKU'd and priced.
  • You will maintain and control inventory according to receiving policy and procedures.
  • You will enforce that the sales team maintains an organised warehouse storage area according to the Cruise Lines established safety guidelines.
  • You will partner with the visual team on merchandise placement, display maintenance and or to improve the visual direction.
  • Direct the sales team to maintain an organised and fully replenished shop at all times.

Loss Prevention

  • You will demonstrate honesty and integrity in all interactions with both guests and sales team
  • You will make sure the sales team  are aware of proper reporting procedures for potential loss, theft or high shrink merchandise.
  • You will communicate shrink issues as outlined by Loss Prevention Policy and Procedures.
  • You will be accountable for all Shrinkage Control Programs, Shrink Alerts and Shrink Plans.
  • You will communicate and validate the awareness of the Shrink Alerts to the sales team.
  • You will supervise and monitor the execution of the shrink training for all new hires.
  • As Assistant Sales Manager you will maintain an accurate updated Associate Declaration Form for all members of the sales team.
  • You will comply with all log procedures a as provided by loss prevention and the anti-bribe policy.

Safety

  • You will be responsible for ensuring that the sales team is kept informed and is in compliance with all safety security and environmental policies.
  • You will report any incidents of illness/work related injuries using the incidence report form and sending to the Corporate Office.
  • Supervisory
  • You will focus on all issues that are critical to the organisations strategies and success.
  • You will guide the development of the Assistant Sales Manager by coaching them to make sound business and people decisions.
  • You will facilitate specialist and monthly on-board training programs.
  • You will validate and ensure all 60 day and end of contract evaluations are completed with SMART goals and quality feedback.

What you'll need:

  • 3 plus years of Retail Management experience.
  • Experience of managing a team of 15 plus people.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Strong PC Skills using Microsoft Applications.
  • Ability to work 6 months contracts
  • Ability to work 7 days a week
  • Experience of coaching/training a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift, pull and push boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store and lockers up to 55lbs.
  • Must be proficient in problem solving, managing conflict, building professional relationships and planning and organising.
