Cruse Ship Technical Superintendent

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is an award-winning Cruise company based in Ipswich with four passenger cruise ships sailing worldwide.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced technical engineering superintendent capable of working independently to work with our International Technical Management Team answerable to the Fleet Manager at Oslo and with direct contact to the Board of Directors.

The role will encompass all areas of cruise ship technical management and supervision with responsibilities including but not limited to:-

• Daily management of the ship’s deck and engine department maintenance activities,
• Planning of vessel maintenance,
• Budget preparation,
• Control of technical purchasing,
• Ensuring compliance with international, national and classification rule requirements,
• Operation of the ship’s safety management system,
• Preparation of dry-docking specifications,
• and involvement with new building projects.

The ideal candidate will have obtained a university degree or equivalent in marine engineering or naval architecture and have sailed as a Chief Engineer, preferably on cruise ships, and have previous experience in the role of technical superintendent.

Whilst the UK Head Office for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is based in Ipswich, the successful candidate will have the option to be home based but must be flexible in terms of international travel and working hours.

You will be the focal point for all maritime regulatory compliance related issues and be responsible for the management of operations including the monitoring of the vessel’s condition and ships staff’s compliance with management policies and safety.
