This is a brilliant opportunity for an ambitious Master/Safety Officer to take the next step in their career. This one-of-a-kind position is based in the Middle East, where your previous Master and Safety Officer experience will be used to streamline and optimise the safety and security of a fleet of large private yachts. A generous salary plus accommodation will be provided together with a car as you will be expected to make regular visits to the yachts.
You will be required to carry out supervisory tasks as part of a team of consultants for the Department of Technical Affairs, to provide consultancy services when required for the operational plans and maintenance plans for a large fleet of Superyachts. You will coordinate and supervise refit schedules, technical surveys and regular maintenance for the whole units of the fleet.
In emergency cases and if required, you may need to step in and act as captain onboard on occasion.
The successful candidate will preferably have extensive Superyacht experience, however a commercial background may also be considered.
Qualications/Training we are seeking:
- CoC Master Unlimited tonnage
- GMDSS
- STCW Basic Safety Training
- Security Awareness certificate
- Passenger Safety Certificate
- Crisis Management & Human Behavior
- STCW Bridge Resource Management, Marine Propulsion for the Deck Office, Ships Security Officer
- Valid Passport/ Seaman’s Discharge Book
- Valid ENG1 Seafarer Medical
- International Driver’s License
Attributes/Experience needed:
- You will possess a complete understanding of maritime laws and regulations
- Knowledge and awareness of all compliance matters for yachts under management including new regulations;
- Implementation of Safety Management Systems (SMS) for all vessels
- Financial management experience (accounting and budget control)
- Superior management skills
- Ability to inspect vessel and report of refit needs
- High level of product and equipment knowledge
- Able to respond to emergencies, operational safety and pollution control
- Able to evaluate training qualifications, safety equipment and services for the fleet;
- Strong communications skills
- Fluent in English
- Well-groomed personal presentation, no visible tattoos/piercings
- Positive and upbeat personality
Salary: €15,000 – €18,000 EUR based on qualifications and experience.
Leave: 45 days per year with 1 economy return per annum to home country with annual flight tickets for spouse and three children under 18 years on condition that members of family permanently reside with employee.
Accommodation: Fully furnished deluxe accommodation, single: 1-bedroom apartment, family: 2-bedroom apartment.
Transportation: Car provided, including fuel
Medical: Full health insurance, spouse and children under 21 entitled to health insurance on condition that member of family permanently resides with employee in Doha.
Education allowance: Employee is entitled to education allowance for up to three children, depending on conditions.
