We are seeking on behalf of one of world’s leading cruise lines a number of qualified Ship Doctors.
This is a great position for anyone with a passion for travel and working in the field.
The onboard Doctor provides medical services to all at sea Crewmembers and Guests and supports the Staff Captain and Senior Doctor in all shipboard health-related matters at sea, including illness reporting and outbreak prevention as required by international, national and company policies.
Primary duties include:
- Reports directly to the Senior Doctor
- Pirmary responsiblity is the care of guests and crew members
- Serves as advisor to the Captain and Staff Captain on all matters related to Medical Center Services, Guest and Crewmember health matters.
- To be present during all clinic hours when on duty or as required by the demands of the clinic.
- oversee inventory of medical supplies and monitors hospital budget.
- Participates in monthly safety meetings
- Participates in inspections of the galley and food handling areas
Minimum requirements:
- Good English
- Three years minimum recent clinical experience in Acute Care Setting (E.R. and ICU), after completion of a recognized Medical training program
- One year practical experience in Advanced Cardiac Life Support is required
- One year experience in diagnosing and treating a broad range of medical conditions is required, including experience performing minor surgery such as suturing, removal of benign skin lesions, removal of foreign objects, removal of ingrown toenails and identification of and immoblizing of simple fractures.
- Medical Degree from a recognized College or University
- Active, current medical license in good standing plus the following certifications, which must be valid during the full duration of their contract:
- BLS - Basic Life Support
- ACLS or ALS - Advance Cardiovascular Life Support
- PALS - Pediatric Advance Life Support
- ATLS - Advance Trauma Life Support
- Completion of a recognized Medical speciality training program is required (ie Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Internal Medicine, Cardiology or General Surgery)
- Valid passport (not to be expiring within 6 months of going onboard)
