The Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity, working for an award-winning cruise company. Committed, confident and passionate, you will be responsible for delivering all aspects of contracted shore excursions (developed by Shore-side team) to the exacting standards expected by passengers whilst controlling costs and driving revenues.

Holding excellent public relations and public speaking skills, you should have a love for travel and be a good team player. You must be extremely organised, have good numeracy skills and be computer literate.

Candidates should have shipboard experience in a Shore Excursions role and a good general knowledge of ports and tours. Contracts are arranged on a 4 month on - 2 month off basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Regular contact with shore-side team.
  • Maintain regular and good working relationships with all agents.
  • Maintain necessary contact with the Captain, Hotel Director, Cruise Director, Food & Beverage, Safety, Medical, Security and others to ensure smooth running of the tour programme and giving any necessary feedback.
  • Liaise with Captain and Port Agents with regard to changes of Itinerary and Shorex programme.
  • Monitor passenger numbers on board to comply with coach seating requirements. Also maintain Wait-Lists including requests from Head Office.
  • Responsible for Shorex related documentation and paperwork including Passenger accounts, escort and port talk payments, changes to the “Today” and preparation of flyers where needed.
  • Circulate welcome letters and issue pre-booked tickets.
  • Contact with Tour Agents regarding finalising details of tour programme, shuttle buses and maps for upcoming cruise.
  • Experience all new tours.
  • Participate in existing tours wherever possible.
  • Responsible for all tour dispatch and shuttle bus operations
  • Responsible for any special requests regarding tours, packed lunches, water etc
  • Shore excursions talks to passengers (Liaise with Destinations Lecturer).
  • Finalise the dispatch sheets; ensuring information is passed to colleagues and the tour agent.
  • Be on call and available should any problems arise during tours.
  • Ensure at least one team member be on the quayside to greet returning passengers and be available to listen to immediate comments from passengers or escorts.
  • Ensure Tours Desk is manned during opening hours
  • Review with Tour Agent possible new tour opportunities and provide feedback to Shore-Side team.
  • Liaise with Hotel Director and Cruise Director regarding Magic Moments
  • Compile voyage report and send to Second Purser.
  • Compile individual Tour Scores and feed back to Shore-Side team.
  • Address all complaints.
  • Set up Fidelio and ensure download of detail for following cruise.
  • Compile relevant Revenue Reports to the shores-side team
  • Overall Responsible for all tour escorts and their training

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship or in a 4/5* Hotel.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
