U Host Role Description:

The U Hosts (there are 2 of you working as a team on board) are the heart and soul of the experience. This means you'll be a host, guide, companion, facilitator, planner and a solid source of information and inspiration for each destination.

As a U Host you run the show on board, together with our carefully selected crew and an excited group of upbeat young guests: you need leadership skills, teamwork orientation, stay social while also being a great organizer, motivator, problem solver and bring a whole lot of enthusiasm and capacity to improvise and energize under all conditions. U Hosts are in charge of delivering the core U-experience by planning and executing all activities on the ship and ashore, such as excursions, parties, improvised events, bike rides, club nights, local encounters and much more.

U Host means being at the center of the action while ensuring that the creation and operation of activities happens successfully and seamlessly for our guests, our own organization and our local partners. To achieve this, U Hosts lead by example and communicate openly, positively, honestly and actively with our guests, our onboard and office teams and our partners.

This position is incredibly challenging but also incredibly rewarding. Our ships will sail through some of the most beautiful, eventful and culturally rich areas on the planet with extraordinary travelers from around the world and an enthusiastic international crew.

Who are we looking for?

 We are looking for seasoned young travel professionals with a solid background in European tourism, hospitality, group events, event management or similar fields. You need to be a customer-oriented professional, an enthusiastic learner and a leader, completely committed to this adventure, and flourish in a diverse international community. You should know yourself and be confidently outgoing, fun, active, positive, engaging, cosmopolitan, street-wise and tech-savvy. In depth destination knowledge and a good feeling of what's cool and up-to-date in our destinations today, is a must.

ROLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Naturally we will discuss the wide range of aspects to this position with you later on, but here's a good taste of the core responsibilities:

• Organizing the complete destination experience for and with our guests
• Creating and planning scheduled and unscheduled experiences
• Acting as a host, guide, travel escort, activity coach and cultural ambassador
• Presenting, selling and manage U Time optional excursions
• Conducting orientation walks and bike rides in our ports of call
• Managing equipment and completing administrative tasks
• Contributing to a sparkling, adventurous, engaging, fun community and team

QUALIFICATIONS

We're open-minded and always on the lookout for U Hosts that bring an interesting background to our team and community. So start a conversation with us if you think you bring the difference that matters. Still, we request a few solid qualification guidelines:

• Five years of experience in the hospitality industry, travel industry, or a similar field such as group event organization or other multi-cultural international experience.
• Solid destination knowledge of the destinations and countries we sail through: the Seine, the Rhine/Danube, or both. Please familiarize yourself with our itineraries online
• Experience in teaching, training, coaching, facilitation or a related field is a plus.
• Experience in working with diverse communities, in different countries, with guests and staff from different backgrounds is important.
• You need to have exceptional planning, organizational and management skills.
• You need to be fluent in English and at least in another language relevant to itineraries we operate.
• You need to be able to travel extensively and have a EU passport or work permit.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

We offer a freelance contract with a maximum of 120 days on board per year, with the possibility to work 2 weeks on and then 2 weeks off, or 4 weeks on and then 2 weeks off. Our compensation and benefits are competitive.
