Cruise Accountant

As the Cruise Accountant you will act as a key interface between the commercial and accounting team and its internal and external customers (Cruise commercial finance, Group Finance, Treasury, Internal & External Audit and commercial cruise team) to ensure all accounting, control and reporting requirements are met for cruise. TUI plans to increase the number of cruise ships over the coming years meaning additional complexity with regards to financial processes. You will therefore be expected to not only follow standard processes but to also develop new processes accordingly.Your role will provide an effective financial accounting and control service to a range of internal and external customers that helps to meet the strategic objectives of the business. The role promotes collaborative team-working, improved co-ordination of activities and promotes improved ways of working.

What you will be doing

As the Cruise Accountant you will be responsible for all aspects of the accounting and control of Cruise cost base and ancillary revenues. This includes maintaining the financial ledgers, ensuring all key controls are in place and are maintained. You will also work with the cruise commercial finance team to ensure timely delivery of month end deliverables e.g all cruise related costs and revenues are captured correctly and ensuring a robust balance sheet position is in place.In this role you will be responsible for the preparation of the working capital forecast for the cruise cost base and ancillary revenue for cash management and hedging purposes, this will include the justification of all assumptions made and providing commentary on variances to actuals.You will business partner the commercial finance team ensuring there is appropriate level of control, making sure any risks and opportunities are highlighted to the Business Partner and to challenge them where required on the balance sheet position.You will be responsible for the management and development of an onshore and offshore accountant leading them in their daily and monthly tasks. In addition, this role will hold and maintain the relationship with the on-board chief pursurs (4) and financial auditors (1). You will be responsible for on board financial processes and procedures, including the end of cruise process.In this role you will also be responsible for all internal and external audit deliverable in relation to cruise, maintaining all relevant audit schedules and backing documentation.Due to the increase in size with regards to TUI’s Cruise operations this will mean that the post holder will devise, develop and implement new processes in order to meet the requirements of new contracts and suppliers on a ship by ship basis.You will be responsible for ensuring all accounting and controls are in place on the new cruise ships and ensuring the decommission of the old cruise ships is accounted for correctly.

What we are looking for

ACCA/ CIMA Qualified Demonstrable track record in managing accounting, control and reporting requirements within a complex environment Proven Experience of developing and implementing new financial processes Strong proven analytical and technical accounting skills People management skills with a proven ability to manage and develop individuals remotely A good understanding of the financial challenges and complexities faced within the travel sector and ideally within the cruise sector.
