Position Title:

Shipboard Traveling Corporate Hotel Controller                                         

Reports to:

Director Hotel operations

Summary:

The Corporate Hotel Controller Plays an integral part of the Senior Management Team championing the financial agenda focusing on cost, revenue and stock – articulating and interpreting financial management information. The primary responsibility is the management and oversight of main and sub- storeroom inventory and ensuring of accurate reporting of inventory data across the fleet.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for food, beverage and consumable cost control services across the fleet.
  • Responsible for the management of onboard and shore side inventory levels.
  • Develops, provides and maintains consistent cost control records for Hotel Operations.
  • Analyzes hotel purchasing orders before they are send to purchasing and makes adjustments based on his/her research and provides ships management with explanation.
  • Responsible for submitting various reports to onboard and shore side management.
  • Accountable for the development with shore side purchasing of fleet wide storing and container schedules for food, beverage, durables and consumables.
  • Supports F&B systems both shore side and shipboard. 
  • Responsible for the day to day operation of all Controllers including training.
  • Acts as “super user” for the Fidelio purchasing/inventory system.  In this capacity ensures timely replications, manages the Windstar database, and interacts with /IT as required.
  • Responsible for the development of a fleet wide standard item list and related controls to ensure items delivered meet company specifications.
  • Ensures that warehouse stocks are reduced in a timely manner.
  • Processes and follows-up on missing orders and discrepancies together with purchasing.
  • Integrates with Finance to facilitate effective voyage-end reporting.
  • Implements all POS and Inventory Control Technology Solutions fleet wide.
  • Ensures that Windstar P.H. and SEMS standards within provisions are met at all times and reports non-compliance to corporate management.
  • Interviews potential Controllers for the fleet.
  • Audits all vessels in regards to proper ordering and storeroom management.
  • Assist Director Hotel Operations in implementing various shipboard projects.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Improves existing systems to provide better cost control and to reduce on board stocks.
  • Reporting and analyzing corporate revenues and related costs, provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
  • Ensures that standards set by Hotel Operations are understood and carried out by personnel aboard ship for the consistent and accurate execution of cost control.
  • Analyses onboard cost and revenue, including KPI’s, market analysis, Customer Service Questionnaire analysis & stock control.
  • Accurate recording and maintenance of stock control reports.
  • Accountable for the preparation of reports which summarize and forecast company business activities and financial positions in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.
  • Seeking ways of making effective and permanent cost savings, through extensive use of current on board reports.
  • Liaises with the finance department shore side.

Requirements:

  • 3 years experience – shipboard Food and Beverage
  • 3 years experience  - shipboard provision
  • Self starter with excellent task management skills
  • Able to evaluate, coach and motivate a team
  • Able to replace onboard Controller in emergency situations
