Princess Cruises has excellent seagoing opportunities for Hotel General Managers to lead our Hotel department in creating memorable moments for our guests and achieving the highest level of customer service, product consistency, and profitability in line with the Company’s directives, brand pillars, and overall commercial, operational, and human resources strategy. The operation consists of Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Guest Services, Onboard Revenue (Casino, Boutiques, Photo, Spa, Shore Excursions and others), Financial Operations, Entertainment, Training & Development, and Medical Facilities.

Job Responsibilities Include

  • Provide functional leadership to all hotel and hotel-related departments.
  • Ensures that the overall guest experience and service standards are met or exceeded by regularly meeting with hotel senior management to oversee voyage food, beverage, hotel and entertainment plans and participating in weekly Hotel Operations inspections.
    Consistently reviews guest feedback to identify trends and issues; takes prompt action to ensure that the team surprises and delights guests and meets Net Promoter targets.
  • Conscientiously formulates and implements short and long-term plans for improving the guest experience at all levels within Hotel Operations.
  • Directs the day-to-day operational efficiency of all areas within the Hotel department in collaboration with shoreside management. Constantly oversees the activities, assignments, and projects of shipboard senior Hotel management.
  • Implements talent development and performance management approaches for all shipboard hotel departments.
  • Ensures crewmembers adhere to all Hotel and HESS Policies & Procedures to achieve total guest satisfaction in a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring all hotel crew and hotel areas are prepared to pass internal and government regulatory inspections.
    Conscientiously coordinates the planning and documenting of current and future itinerary deployments, anticipating problems relating to revenue, demographics, logistics, and clearance requirements; accurately compiles and promptly submits to the shoreside management the Itinerary Planning document when required.
  • Responsibly oversees and drives the financial performance of all revenue-generating departments to achieve Company targets and guidelines.
  • Carefully monitors costs, expenditures, and inventory of all Hotel areas and achieves targets within established budget.
  • Builds excellent relationships, communicates and consults with shipboard hotel management, to ensure understanding and support of all guest experience and HESS initiatives.
  • Constantly coordinates with the Captain to keep guests fully informed at all times during any incident or event that may affect their cruise experience.
  • Regularly oversees effective and professional communication between the ship and third parties, such as the USPH, Customs, and Immigration.
  • Works with various internal departments (e.g., Technical and Marine) to direct certain activities in support of hotel and guest experience desired outcomes.
  • Collaborates with shoreside management to assist with planning for all hotel R&M and capital projects. Continuously analyzes current processes to identify areas for improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Establishes a compliance culture within the organization and fosters an environment where employees feel comfortable reporting potential violations or misconduct. Demonstrates commitment to the company’s Core Values and Shared Purpose and acts as a role model.

Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of progressive management experience in a 4 or 5 star resort or cruise ship with at least five years of operational experience in Food and Beverage, Front Office and/or Housekeeping. In-depth understanding of the principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination and execution. This includes strategic planning, resource allocation, manpower modeling, leadership techniques and production methods.
  • General knowledge of policies and best practices involved in the human resources function. Must have a proven ability to manage international employees in a positive and productive manner through motivation and development.
  •  Must be able to effectively manage the employee journey, in line with company policies and procedures, through coaching, mentoring, performance improvement or employee termination. Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration or related field from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred.
  • Comprehension of HACCP procedures for sanitation and cleanliness.
  • Personal characteristics include: Leadership ability; Self-motivated and self-directed; Strong presentation and public speaking skills; Strong verbal, listening, and excellent written communication skills; Requires a collaborative work style, fostering cooperation and teamwork; Ability to work well under stress; Must possess the highest level of integrity, discretion and judgment and is able to use those skills to effectively build trusting relationships with others; Ability to develop working relationships with operational and personnel teams; Must possess a strong commitment to excellent customer service.

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship, in a 4/5* Hotel or in an Upscale Restaurant.
