Senior Accountant Ocean

Purpose of Position

The Senior Accountant ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. He/she reports to Director of Ocean Accounting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability, and financial reporting, as well as financial profitability analysis and other special projects as assigned. This position is based in our Head Office in Basel, Switzerland. Please note that we can only accept applicants who are eligible to work in Switzerland or in possession of a valid work permit.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare monthly financial statements, reports and supporting schedules by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information according to monthly close schedule
• Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances 
• Responsible for general ledger
• Assist with financial audits
• Maintain bank accounts by requesting disbursements
• Monitor reserve accounts
• Review bank statements
• Research and reconcile all discrepancies
• Auditing and verifying documents
• Following internal controls
• Completing data backups
• Assist with quarterly reports; analyzing and correcting discrepancies
• Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
• Financial and profitability analysis on a requested basis
• Other projects as assigned 

QUALIFICATION PROFILE

• Strong understanding of accounting theory 
• 3+ years accounting/finance experience; CPA a plus, but not required
• Excellent English skills
• Experience in the cruise industry preferred 
• Highly detail oriented and organized in work 
• Ability to meet assigned deadlines 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
• Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with MS Dynamics would be an asset
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external parties to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
