Reporting to the Senior Marine Manager the Marine Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the key Marine segments of the itinerary planning process, collaboratively researching and developing attractive and efficient itineraries which will appeal to our guests whilst remaining safe, secure and sustainable. Managing and maintaining the itinerary planning database and associated modules for berth booking, fuel and port costs to ensure the accurate and timely development of itineraries and budgets.

The Marine Operations Manager will be a key player in the cruise team at the heart of exciting plans for the growth and deployment of the Marella Cruises fleet.

What you will be doing

The Marine Operations Manager will work closely with the Senior Marine Operations Manager, Senior Marine Safety Manager and the Destination Services and Technical teams to develop attractive and efficient itineraries and actively monitor all aspects of the safe, secure and environmentally friendly deployment and operation of the Marella Cruises fleet.

The role holder will be responsible for the day to day itinerary planning and analysis duties, including managing and recording changes to itineraries, liaising with the fleet and ports to effect changes and monitor berth reservations. The role will include supporting the Senior Marine Manager with negotiating and budgeting port costs, monitoring the quality of port services, and identifying potential port and fuel cost savings.

Under the direction of the Senior Marine Manager, the role holder may be required to carry out overseas travel.

The role holder will undertake competition monitoring and close coordination with all stakeholders in order to optimise current cruises.

The role may require representation of the company at industry events, conventions and forums.

What we are looking for

  • Educated in Nautical Science / Economics / Tourism / Or similar
  • Seagoing experience aboard cruise vessels preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of navigation, voyage planning and cruise operations
  • Knowledge of port cost disbursement process and the ability to calculate voyage operating costs
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience in dealing with maritime legislative issues
  • Clear articulate communicator with good negotiation and presentation skills, fluent in English
  • Track record of being able to meet tight deadlines in a pressurized environment
  • Ability to build and develop professional relationships with a diverse range of internal and external business partners
  • Proactive, dynamic self-starter who is able to work independently and can be trusted to deliver excellent results
  • Analytical and logical thinker with the ability to plan ahead and prioritise effectively with a data-driven approach to problem-solving

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship, in a 4/5* Hotel or in an Upscale Restaurant.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
