Store Keeper
Authority and Interrelation
- The Store Keeper is a member of the engine department and reports to the Chief Engineer and Staff Captain
Responsibility (Including But Not Limited To)
- Understand and abide by all relevant documentation, regulations, guidelines and procedures. Sign copies as instructed by the superior officer to indicate understanding of the same.
- Report any undesired events, unsafe practices or near accidents observed to the superior officer/s and attempt to rectify them if safely possible.
- Ensure proper storage of stores, spares and tools and manage the storage space(s) and workshop.
- Assist the Engine and Deck department with ordering, distribution, updating and storage of items within the department as well maintain control and updates of lists / databases of stores and spareparts.
- Perform security related duties as required by the Ship Security Officer.
- Assist the Chief Engineer for record keeping and other clerical duties as required.
- Perform any other duties as delegated by the Chief Engineer within the scope of the rank.
- Actively participate in all drills, simulations and exercises conducted onboard and impart associated training as instructed by the Master or the Chief Engineer.
- Will be a member of the Safety Committee or any other official shipboard body set up under the authority of the Master, if called upon to do so.
- Participate in waste management activities as directed by the shipboard management.
- Act as Departmental Environmental Representative if required
