Faststream are working closely with a leading Maritime Training Centre that uses the very latest, state-of-the-art technology and methodology for training purposes. The centre consists of Bridge/Engine Room Full Mission & Part Task Simulators, including dedicated Assessment Part Task Simulator & rooms. Our client has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Instructor with cruise experience to join their expanding team.

The role…

As an Environmental Engineering Instructor your key duties and responsibilities will include annual training and appraisal of all Environmental Officers at the company.

Duties include:

• Appraisal of ship specific Environmental Officers technical environmental proficiency as part of a ship visit coaching and mentoring programme.
• Identifying Environmental Officers long term training needs.
• Developing new and enhancing existing environmental training courses for Environmental Officers, Nautical and Technical Officers.
• Providing support and feedback to the company's operating lines, compliance and policy teams.
• Keeping up to date with current practices, procedures, technology and regulatory environmental compliance.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Experienced Marine Engineer and Subject Matter Expert (SME) in shipboard technical and environmental operations/ compliance.
• 10 years+ experience required.
• Cruise ship experience is a must.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching/ instructing.
• Must hold a minimum Class 2 CoC, Class 1 preferred.
• Expertise in international, regional, national environmental laws and regulations that govern global cruise ship operations.
• Knowledge of pollution prevention and pollution-generating equipment in use on cruise ships.
• Ability to explain and demonstrate proper operation and required maintenance of this equipment.
• Expertise related to monitoring and measuring discharges and emissions from on-board equipment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
