PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Business Intelligence Analyst will be supporting the VP of Analytics & Insights/Purchasing. The role is dual across both Viking’s Analytics & Insights team, charged with strategic analytics for the Operations Group, as well as supporting other internal teams with ad-hoc analysis and report structuring as needed.
For the Analytics & Insights team, the tasks will mainly revolve around helping with the annual strategy session for the Executive Operations Team, including analytics development, support the monthly Executive Operations Meetings, provide analysis and updates for the Board of Directors on behalf of the SVP of Group Operations, as well as ad-hoc analysis of a strategic nature.
For ad-hoc requests from the different departments, the tasks will mainly resolve around building and automating new insights, identifying new opportunities for process optimization and help developing new tools, as well as ad-hoc analytics related to the department subject.
In both roles, the key focus will be on conducting in-depth root cause analysis of Viking’s operations and build solid fact bases for executive decision making (analytics and insights), as well as develop, design and help implement actionable solutions (operations transformation) and reporting.

The Business Intelligence Analyst will report directly to the Vice President of Analytics & Insights/Purchasing, and will be located in our Operational Head Office in Basel, Switzerland. This is a maternity cover for 6 months.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take responsibility for identifying information sources, gathering, troubleshooting and interpreting data and presenting findings
  • Analyze customers’ feedback, competitors and suppliers to help defining strategic recommendation to grow our business
  • Provide powerful facts and analyses that outline solutions and drive change
  • Manage and publish periodic reports related to cost, revenue and operational metrics
  • Support new season planning and initiatives implementation
  • Provide root cause and data analysis on identified opportunities
  • Engage in continuous improvement cycles on current reporting tools and processes
  • Create and update presentations for the Executive management team
  • Collaborate with Directors and Managers across different departments in identifying and building improvement solutions and implementation plans

QUALIFICATION PROFILE

  • You graduated from University (Bachelor or Master degree), either in Engineering or Business Administration
  • You are business fluent in English (written and verbally)
  • You possess strong analytical and modeling skills
  • You are able to work independently and prioritize allocation of time across multiple projects
  • You are a curious listener, able to reach a good understanding of people motivations and wider contexts
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, SQL and Microsoft PowerPoint
