SHORE EXCURSION MANAGER

Responsible for the entire on board Shore Excursion Department operations, sales, financials and reporting. Liaison with Head Office, local agents, and on board Management to ensure efficient shore excursion operations. This is to include, but not limited to, the day to day running of the Shore Excursions Desk, excursion presentations, agent liaison, shoreside operations, escort training, guest welfare, guest correspondence, account reconciliation and guest embarkation/disembarkation on turnaround day.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Fluency in spoken & written English & German, minimum requirement on TransOcean brands
  • At least 3 years’ experience on a cruise ship with at least 2 years in a Shore Excursions management position
  • Strong presentation preparation and presenting skills for all required Shore Excursion presentations.
  • Strong computer & typing skills: Word, Excel, MS Outlook, PowerPoint. Additional: Cruise Manager (or similar Ship Management System)
  • Customer service background
  • Experience in communication with local agents by phone/email
  • Ability to communicate, negotiate and complaint handle
  • Knowledgeable in ISM regulations
  • Ability to manage the shore excursion team and rotas, plus crew on appointed escorting duties. Must be comfortable working with crew of different nationalities
  • Good organisation skills
  • Efficient in formulating and preparing shore excursion reports, including financials, respond and react efficiently to guest related issues, and be fully aware of the internal organisation on board a cruise ship

 

Certificate Requirements

  • Please do not apply if you are not in possession or prepared to obtain these in advance of contract
  • In accordance with the requirements of the STCW convention and code all appointed crew must have the following STCW certificates. Seafarers holding STCW certificates that were issued prior to 1st January 2012 and not meeting the 2010 Manila amendments will be required to renew them prior to employment.
  • Personal Survival Techniques STCW - Ref. A-VI/1-1 as amended in 2010
  • Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting - STCW Ref. A-VI/1-2 as amended in 2010
  • Elementary First Aid - STCW Ref. A-VI/1-3 as amended in 2010
  • Personal, safety and social responsibilities STCW A-VI/1-4 as amended in 2010
  • Crowd Management STCW Ref. A – V/2 Par 1-3 as amended in 2010
  • Security Awareness STC W Ref. A-VI/6 -1 as amended in 2010
  • Medical examinations
  • Valid passport (at least for 1 year from the date of embarkation)
  • Seaman’s Book - National or Bahamian Seaman’s Books only
  • Yellow Fever certificate
