Purpose of Position

  • The HR Specialist is ultimately responsible for all HR-related activities in a clear defined set of vessel (operation). Moreover, the HR Specialist is the core HR partner to the Senior
  • Officers onboard all ships within the Operation Area, and acts as an adviser in HR-related matters and in support of Vikings Employee Performance Review processes.
  • The HR Specialist reports to the Director HR and has one HR Admin reporting to him/her. This role is based in Basel, Switzerland.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage HR Administration and wellbeing of crew in an effective & compliant manner maintain employee records
  • Prepare contract documents for employees and support with visa application process
  • Gather all HR-needs of responsible area and initiate necessary actions in agreement with Senior HR Manager and Corporate Operation Manager
  • Ensure and control that needed number & quality of crew for assigned operation is provided in time by recruiting
  • Maintain close business relations with the responsible core team
  • Maintain business contacts with recruiting & payroll department
  • Analyze terminations / turnover data and initiate appropriate actions in coordination with Corporate Operations Manager (COM)
  • Act as employee relations agent for assigned area to ensure compliance
  • Control staff satisfaction and initiate action to improve in coordination with COM
  • Support responsible COM with deployment of management positions
  • Coordinate staff planning process at beginning of season together with Core Team
  • Chair Employee Performance review committee of your area
  • Support the onboard Senior Officer with the HR Administration and vacation planning
  • Support the recruiting team with recruiting events
  • Support the trainings department in the organization of the season start training
  • Lead an HR Manager; define performance targets of your team
  • Ensure to create a motivating performance environment enabling people to thrive in their field of competence
  • Ensure appropriate coaching of HR Managers
  • Conduct Ships visits to foster the Core Team with the onboard management and crew performance

QUALIFICATION PROFILE

  • Certificate / degree in Human Resource Management
  • Graduated education in hotel / tourism industry
  • Min. 4 years professional experience in a similar position
  • International experience / experience on a ship is an asset
  • Excellent English and German skills (written and verbal), other languages are an advantage
  • Excellent computer knowledge (MS Office), administrative experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, service-oriented and guest focused
  • Positive personality, organized, flexible, team player, creative, stress resistant and resilient
