1st Engineer

We are looking for an 1st Engineer to join by next week 

Main Responsibilities:

• Maintenance and repair of:
  • Deck machinery
  • Life boats and tender boats
  • Any other equipment assigned onboard
• Assist EoD with maintenance as required
• Ensure appropriate Permits to Work are issued and followed
• Report to SiC-E:
  • Accidents and Incidents, Near Misses, Unsafe Conditions, Unsafe Acts and Property Damage
  • Non-conformities or defects if/when discovered
  • Maintenance requirements and progress updates
  • Work and rest hour breaches / records
• Compliance with safe working practices
• Speaking up if/when unsafe practices or conditions are identified
• Compliance with BSM’s SMS and international standards and regulations

Monitor:

• Ship’s condition and maintenance programmes
• Inventory of spares
• Performance of engine room watch keeping officers and crew

Assist with:

• Planning, control and record-keeping of maintenance and operations
• Training of junior engineers, cadets and trainees
• Engine room watch keeping, when required
• Environmental compliance

Other duties and responsibilities:

• Form part of the emergency response team (specific duties as per ship’s emergency organization and muster lists)
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the HoED and SiC-E
