The Chief Electrical Engineer is responsible for the entire electrical team and all of Scarlet’s electronic and electrical equipment onboard and overseas. This ‘someone’ will ensure that everything electrical & electronic is in accordance with the Classification Society and Flag State requirements.

In other words, this ‘someone’ needs to know how to Make Ship Happen. Your excellent attention to detail and self-starter mentality means you can think quick on your feet and keep calm when ship gets real. Ultimately, we won’t be able to remember how we got by without you.

What You’ll Be Up To:

• Fearlessly lead, train, and motivate crew!
• Coordinate the safe & efficient repair, maintenance, testing and operation of all electrical & electronic equipment onboard
• Organize & supervise the performance of Electrical contractors
• Inspect all spaces containing electrical equipment to ensure high standards of workmanship frequently
• Coordinate stores & spare gear inventory levels, requisitions and costs for electrical equipment
• Assist the Chief Engineer with budget planning
• Report defects within the department to the Chief Engineer
• Provide information and consultancy in case of vessel inspections
• Overall responsibility for maintaining GMDSS equipment from a technical perspective, computer systems and networks, telephone systems, PA systems, UHF/VHF radio system, TV broadcast system, navigation equipment, CCTV system, fire alarm system and satellite/communication systems
• Responsible for the LES and Rigging systems - with entertainment technical manager reporting to him from the technical side
• Prepare appraisals for 1st Electro-Tech Officers and overall review of appraisals of all individuals under his remit in accordance with Virgin Voyages policies
• Ensure that planned maintenance is assigned and documented

Super Powers Required:

• Electro-Technical Officer Certificate of Competency (COC)
• Degree or HND in Electronic Communications or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Certified and knowledge of the Marine High Voltage
• Knowledge of MS office and Computerized Maintenance System skills
• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Chief Electrical Officer / Chief Electrical onboard a passenger ship
• All certificates as required by the STCW code for this position
• Strong verbal and written skills
