The 1st Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment and systems onboard the ship and managing Engine team.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for safe and efficient operation of the entire Engine Room Plant
- Ensure that all operation and maintenance are always in full compliance with relevant rules and regulations (SOLAS, DNV-GL, SMS, MARPOL, USPH, STCW, ILO, MLC, etc.)
- Work as part of a large International Team, responsible for maintenance and condition of all equipment within their areas of responsibility
- Monitor plant performance and analyze results, inspection, assessment and reporting, or rectification, of defects occurring during operation
- Routines and work descriptions as listed in the Planned Maintenance System (AMOS) and any additional duties as directed by the Staff Chief Engineer and/or the Chief Engineer
- Be familiar with the Safety Management System and have a full understanding of his/her responsibilities in the Safety Organization as per the Emergency Plan
- Serve as a Support Engineer (Yellow Man), when required, during elevated watch conditions
- Update maintenance work in the Planned Maintenance System
- Follow up and supervise relevant projects taking place in technical spaces
Hiring Requirements
- Should hold Chief Engineer Certificate STCW III/2 3000KW or more
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a same role on Cruise/Passenger Ship in charge to manage Engine Team of working routines and effective daily routine for planned maintenance, breakdowns and general cleanliness of Engine Room
- Preferably to have experience on Wartsila Engines
- Be familiar with planned maintenance system AMOS
- Be familiar with relevant rules governing the Marine Industry (SOLAS, DNV-GL, SMS, MARPOL, USPH, STCW, ILO, MLC, etc.)
- To speak, read and write English clearly and distinctly
- Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship.
Language Requirements
Good knowledge of the English language is required.
